Rare box art version and in amazing investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition with perfect color and gloss, four solid corners, no fading, tears, tags, tape or marks from either. Very light wear is the only flaw. Hardbox is dated 1960 and it appears that this design was only issued for a few years at the most. Molded in gloss olive drab and black. Still factory sealed but the seal has splits and the right side of the seal is missing as shonw. Classic Cold War kit in large 1/40 scale. I have listed this as a Krugozor ('Horizon') release as it has their logo and name on a short side and appears to be dated 1975, which would align with Krugozor production. Krugozor (or MFDI) took over Yunyj Tyechinik production in the mid 1970s and production continued till 1993. Yunyj Tyechinik orignally succeeded MZMPI, which was the first kit manufacture in the USSR.
Wood Model Kit, Box Condition: VG

Rare kit from the 1940s or very late 1930s. Every rarer in this condition - with a complete box and all contents never disturbed other than when I did the inventory. This is very unusual due to the age and their very fragile nature. This model is one of Joe Ott's mid-range line in size and price. It features glue in a metal tube, 2 sheets of the unique Ott-O-Matic formers on thick stock, factory-carved balsa wood propeller, thin hardwood wing ribs, factory-cut stripwood stock, a factory sealed paper envelope for the small parts (usually consists of fully carved thrust button, main wheels and metal prop shaft/rubber motor hook), clear material for windows, color insignia, covering tissue and excellent plans. The kit has never been started. The loose parts have been inventoried complete and the paper envelope is still factory sealed.

Very rare original issue hardbox kit from 1964; not a common reissue. This large and famous model features a large and detailed Kong holding the Girl while his jungle display base shows his natural environment completely trashed by the Wrath of Kong - broken and trampled trees, lizards, snakes, etc. Inside, the kit is molded in the correct black plastic and all parts are in excellent, unbroken condition It has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all pieces. The instructions are in 'excellent+' condition with slight yellowing as the main flaw. Please note that the box has excellent color and gloss, four perfect corners, no tape or tape marks, no rips, tears, fading or stains but is only graded 'good' because there is a strong crease at the lower part of the "K" in King, the box sides are bowed out as shown and the lower box ('tray') has a deep 1/2" crease along the lower short side. This is a Revell-factory built display built for hobby shop promotional use around 1954/55. The intention was simple- if hobby shops would purchase and show these attractively built displays, potential buyers would see them and immediately purchase the kit. This probably worked well; but the hitch was that these displays were expensive for the 1950s, so few hobby shops could afford them. There were other difficulties too. Once in public, there was heavy attrition; parts easily broke, and when the new kits came out next year, they were thrown away to make room for more. Which makes condition of this one even more exceptional. The actual model is very neatly built and Revell factory airbrushed. You can always tell the Revell-built models by the airbrushing and the way the parts were masked. The actual car is complete, nothing is broken and there are no repairs. Even the base is in very good condition; however the clear cover is missing and the car could use a cleaning. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

The initial Comet Is were in operation long before the 707, which gave the British an incredible post-war lead in the expanding civil aviation market. Just as the Comet was flying high and orders were pouring in from around the world, Comets began to mysteriously fall out of the sky. Everything from lightning to terrorist bombs were blamed. For months the root cause went undiscovered. Then, in a landmark investigation that is considered the first modern post-crash autopsy, it was discovered that the stresses around a small ADF window on the top of the fuselage were causing metal fatigue failure when the fuselage was pressurized. To confirm this, a Comet I was placed in a water tank and subjected to pressurization stresses. After some time, a dramatic failure occurred. Then parts of a crashed Comet were pulled from underwater proving once and for all that this was the root cause.

Still factory sealed. Rare and the only kit available to make this tank. This is a conversion kit and the recommended base kit is the commonly-available Tamiya 35039 M3 Lee. In 1941 the Brits and American disagreed on some future tank configurations. As a result, the Brits developed a version of the Lee with their own 57mm six-pounder gun. A total of 1,899 vehicles were produced before 1943. They did see action, although clearly it was an improvement over the Lee tank. However, the Canadian and British forces used them for training exercises. Additionally it was used as a basis for several self-propelled guns and special-purpose vehicles.
