Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Mid to late 1960s issue of this superb flyer. This is one of the famous Carl Goldberg designs of a cabin-class competition endurance model. Kit features traditional wood/tissue construction with die-cut printwood parts, fully finished leading and trailing edges for the wings, hardware, pre-formed wire gear struts, metal propeller shaft/rubber hook, fully formed wheels, plastic propeller, rubber motor, wooden stock as required, clear window material, color insignia sheet, tissue and detailed full size plans with building instruction notes. The kit has never been started and is complete. These aircraft were common in the 1930s when the sport of free-flight model airplanes reached it's zenith. It was not uncommon for these models to fly for 45 minutes or more on rubber power alone - many flew out of site, and it became common practice to write your name, address and phone number on the covering tissue. Mid 1950s 'Aurora Line' logo issue with pre-1956 logo on the sides and 'Famous Fighters Of All Nations' on the box top. Inside the kit is 100% correct for an early issue. It is molded in gloss silver with a green-tinted clear canopy and clear stand arm and clear 'rectangle' stand base. The instructions show the same early logo and rectangular stand as well. Never started. Inventoried with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora Boeing P-26A Peashooter, 1/43, 115-98

Early 1954 or '55 first issue with old 'Aurora Line' rectangular logo. This kit was issued shortly after moving to the West Hempstead facility on Long Island. The side logos are the old Brooklyn style but with the new address in the lower bar. Molded in the correct glossy light blue and clear with the early style Aurora rectangular stand, correct Tatem Company decals and the correct instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box has wear as shown and also a narrow 1.5 x 1/4 inch factory tape litho pull on the upper long side.

This fantastic Jo Kotula box artwork is dated 1959, but the kit is from the mid 1960s due to the '130' price extension, lack of 'Famous Fighters' in the ovals and block logo on the instructions. Molded in silver and clear the the 'triangle' clear stand and stand arm. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box top has very light age foxing on the right vertical side. It goes 1 inches to 1.5 inches in towards the center and is difficult to see, but it is there.
