Hasegawa Boeing B-47E Stratojet - USAF SAC, 1/72, K7

$59

Still factory sealed but the seal is split across the left side as shown. Very nicely molded featuring fine raised panel detail, cockpit, open/closed bomb bay doors with internal iron bomb load, tail "stinger" and detailed gear wells and landing gear. The B-47 was a very advanced aircraft at the time. The XB-47 first flew in 1947. The big jet's speed was equal to or greater than all current fighter aircraft, so it received radar-controlled twin 20mm cannons in the tail as the only guns. Through the use of mid-air refueling, the B-47 gave SAC it's first all-jet force for nuclear or regular bomb delivery. Although it was tricky to fly, Stratojets flew into the mid 1960s. A program to strengthen the wings for low-level attack was responsible for prolonging the service life.
