Revell Bristol Beaufighter Mk IF - Flt./Lt. John ' Cat's Eyes' Cunningham's Aircraft and RAF Aircraft 'PNB' - Revell Japan Issue, 1/32, H251-2000

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$86

Rare 1975 Japan issue with unique and beautiful box artwork. As with most Japan issues, this one contains extra features not available in other issues. First, there are decals for a total of two aircraft. Second, the huge 16.5" x 11.5" instruction front page is a full-color, glossy painting guide for the model and also has a large color photo of the assembled kit. Large-scale and well detailed (for that time) model of the British night fighter with airborne interception radar. The Beaufighter was flown by aces such like Flt./Lt. "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, whose markings are included. His final score stood at 20 victories and his aircraft is one that can be depicted in this model. Features detailed Bristol Hercules engines, removable cowling, two flight crew, optional position landing gear, full crew cockpits and radar antenna. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. My friend and model builder Stephen Payne high recommends that the purchaser of any Beaufighter Night Fighter model invests in a copy of the book "Night Fighter" by C.F. Rawnsley. Rawnsley was John Cunningham's Airborne Intercept radar operator throughout WWII in both Beaufighters and Mosquitoes. The book is the story of their time and combat together and makes excellent reading.

Hudson Miniatures 1904 Oldsmobile - Lil Old Timers Quickie Kit, 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$38

These kits have a very interesting history. When the Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' burst upon the hobby scene in 1951, they started a hobby revolution. Plastic model kits were not new in 1951, but successful mass marketing of plastic kits was new. The sensation swept the country, and Gowland & Revell could not make the kits fast enough. The fact that the public was buying these models shocked the successful hobby establishment. One such manufacture was Hudson Miniatures. In the 1940s, Hudson had established a name in making 1/16 scale 'Old Timer' models of automobiles. These were excellent kits with wood and metal parts, but a high degree of skill was required to finish the wood parts. In the late 1940s, they added some injection molded plastic parts (usually acetate wheels and lamps) but all other parts remained wood and cardstock. When Hudson saw what was happening with the Highway Pioneers, he began to design his own 1/32 scale line called 'Lil Old Timers', which hit the stores in 1954. An early paper fold-out catalog shows 18 models including some real gems like the 1910 International Harvester Passenger Car, 1911 Brush Delivery Truck and 1906 Columbia Electric Car just to name a few. The line was bought by Revell a short time after it's release, and Revell did reissue some (but not all) of the kits. As you would expect from Hudson, this is a nice kit with excellent moldings and detail for the time. Molded in a brilliant deep red plastic. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and instructions.

"Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, whose markings are included. His final score stood at 20 victories and his aircraft is one that can be depicted in this model. This model features detailed Bristol Hercules engines, removable cowling, two flight crew, optional position landing gear, full crew cockpits and radar antenna. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the large parts are not sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. My friend and model builder Stephen Payne high recommends that the purchaser of any Beaufighter Night Fighter model invests in a copy of the book "Night Fighter" by C.F. Rawnsley. All paper work and the famous Revell Swivel Stands are in the factory sealed bags as well. The correct center factory divider is still present in the tray (box bottom) and there is a small, unopened, factory wrapped tube of Revell "S" Cement included.

Revell Merchant Fleet Gift C3 Freighter Hawaiian Pilot / Standard Oil T-2 Tanker J.L. Hanna / Harbor Tug Long Beach, G332-495

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$475

Rare 1956 Revell Gift set containing all three ships and even the unopened tube of colorful Revell "S" cement. This was the first and only issue of this specific gift set and features spectacular special box artwork. The tugboat is 1/108 scale and the tanker and cargo ship are both 1/400. Inside, the kit is 100% correct. The special color cardboard over lay is factory fresh. The tug and C-3 lower hulls are factory painted red (the T-2 was molded in red so it was not painted). Decals are included. The instruction sheets are excellent with the typical yellowing as the only flaw. The three kits have not been started. The tug and freighter still have the small parts in the factory sealed clear bags; the parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. The tanker has been inventoried 100% complete. All three kits include decals and instructions. The box has brilliant color and gloss, four solid corners and no repairs. There is no tape, tape marks, price tags or price tag marks. However, there is moderate and light general wear and 'dings' on the two lower corners as shown. Shipping insurance is required with this kit.

Monogram TWA Airliner Set DC-3 and Super G Constellation, MGP5

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

This hardbox is in very solid condition with no fading, stains or split corners. There is edge wear that account for the 'VG' box rating. Inside, the kit has the correct cardboard divider. The DC-3 is 1/90 scale and features optional position cabin door, rotating propellers and wheels, pilot, copilot, hostess and passenger figures and colorful TWA decals. The Super G Constellation is 1/131 scale and features two hostesses, two loading ramps, tip tanks, battery truck and full TWA decals. The models have not been started. Strombecker Bell X-1B Supersonic Rocket, 1/48, D30

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$155

Strombecker was very well known for producing the finest pre-carved hardwood aircraft and missile kits, but they had a very short journey into the plastic model field. They made a total of 5 molds for plastic injected aircraft kits, the 1956 Sea Dart being the first. All were discontinued in the mid 1960s. One kit is this excellent X-1B. It is the rarer of the two releases as it contains the pilots bust molded into the fuselage (the other one does not). Includes full instructions with three photos of the real aircraft, full color decals, Strombecker kit catalog and an application for the Strombecker Model-Makers Club. Kit features full landing gear, clear canopy and display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
