Drone Engineering Secret Weapon - Spectacular Disel Flyer - 38 Inch Wingspan Super Stunt Control Line Model Designed For Diesel Engine

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair-

$125

Very rare and from 1948. This is a completely prefabricated, balsa and hardwood super-stunt control line design by Leon Shulman. At that time it was capable of doing every possible maneuver that control line models could perform and some that could not be done, such as a loop and vertical 8's. It can literally be built in a few hours and features factory cut and carved, high-quality wooden parts, shaped and hollowed leading edges, tapered training edges, hardware, fully formed wire landing gear (or to be used as a take-off trolley that remained on the runway to improve performance), covering tissue and more. The full size plans include heavily illustrated step-by-step assembly as well as complete flying tips from the famous designer. NOTE: this kit has 'excellent' quality sub assembly as follows: bellcrank to elevator; upper & lower fuselage and hardwood reinforcements assembled. Horizontal stabilizer and elevator are very neatly sanded. There is no other assembly. The model has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and paperwork included. Please note that the covering tissue has bug damage. In 1948 Drone Diesel also produced and marketed the 'Dronette' Sport Flyer & Stunt Trainer and the 'Hot-Rock,' a National Open Stunt Champion in 1947. These model, with the 'Secret Weapon,' promoted 'Diesel At Its Best,' the Drone Diesel Engine with a Class B displacement of .297, bore of 21/32 and Stroke of 7/8". The compression ratio was whopping 18 to 1. A speed control and variable compression head were also available.

Cleveland Curtiss P-6E Hawk Pursuit - Wooden Flying Aircraft, 1/16, M-21

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$95

From the late 1930s. This is an early issue in the cardboard box with 'Cleveland World Famous Models' printed in silver, which is in unusually good condition. This is a scale flying model in the museum scale of 1/16. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features very high quality balsa printwood and strip wood, pre-drilled nose block, fully formed wheels, thrust button & spinner, pre-routed/drilled wheel pants stock, various sizes of metal stock, other balsa stock as required, color insignia, covering material and highest quality plans. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream- to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane business- Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's great Recruiter- Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Air Lines Supermaine S6B Racer, 1/72, 4900

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$30

1960s issue that is very finely molded in silver. Features separately molded ailerons, elevators and rudder. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Box art is by the famous Jo Kotula who did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model.

UPC 105MM Howitzer And Emplacement, 1/40, 5152-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG

$39

Still factory sealed and rare. Judging only from the box art, I would guess that this is the from the Revell "S" 1950s molds. If so, here are the features: gun barrel swivels, elevates and has recoil action, wheels turn with flexible tires, trails fold inward for towing, 4 G.I. figures, shells, crates and detailed 'battle-ground' base. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

UPC Armored Car - M-20 Armored Combat Car - (ex Revell), 1/40, 5146-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$110

Very rare kit that is from the original Revell "S" 1950s molds. This issue even shares the same box art as the Revell release, which is unusual. Like all early Revell armor, this is a very nicely detailed and molded kit that features detailed suspension, optional position front hatches, rolling wheels, swiveling and elevating machine gun, two drivers, machine gunner, commander, mine detector, rifleman and three extra rifles. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

UPC Covered Wagon - With Driver / Two Oxen / Horse And Rider - (ex Adams / Revell / Miniature Masterpieces /Life-Like), 1/48, 4010-100

Vaccuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$54

A rare model that is very finely engraved and well detailed. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but either leased molds or bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed them in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s including this model. All UPC production ended in the 1970s. This kit has a fascinating history. It started life as one of the 'Miniature Masterpieces,' which was the brainchild of an alliance between Lou Glasser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although having the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell right down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. However, there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954, making the one-year original issues very rare. However, while Revell was now issuing them under their name, Adams was also issuing the line in 1958. Production was discontinued by both companies in the early 1960s; the molds then ended up with UPC. By the early 1970s, Life-Like ended up with many of the Adams molds and wound up owning the complete, original 'Miniature Masterpieces' line. Life-Like reissued them several times in that decade but the current whereabout of the molds are not known.
