Rare Soviet piston powered aircraft with a turbine jet engine in the tail. The Su-5 was designed in 1944 and flew in 1945. This is a multimedia kit. The main airframe parts are beautifully vacuformed with recessed panel lines and higher quality than many injection molded kits. All the details (propeller spinner, landing gear, braces, wheels, gear doors and more) are injection molded. The kit has never been started. All of the injection molded parts are still in the factory sealed bag. The vacuform parts and clear canopy were never sealed and are inventoried complete and uncut. With decals and instructions. The clear canopy is in 'mint' condition and not even yellowed.

Hard-to-find. Very finely molded with all recessed panel lines, many photoetched details, film instruments and more. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The FW-190 V18 was an attempt to improve FW-190 performance at high altitudes. The V18 had a pressured cabin, DB 603G engine with a Hirth 9-2281 turbo-supercharger and a four blade propeller. There was a new air intake below the cockpit and a larger vertical tail surface as well. The design flew very well, but the Hirth unit was too unreliable for service use and project was abandoned.

Early in the development of the Seiran submarine based float plane, two preproduction airframes emerged with retractable landing gear for land operation. These were likely the 5th and 6th prototypes and they had dual controls. They were given the 'K' designation for trainer. They could also be operated from the submarines as they had the same catapult attachment. Training may have taken place from land or taking off from the sub then landing on an airstrip. It is interesting that the original Seiran concept did not call for floats as the aircraft would launch from the submarine catapult and crash-land beside the submarine when the mission was over.
