Fantastic kit from the 1950s in an 'excellent+' condition box. The classic artwork shows the Nike Ajax blowing up what appears to be a B-17 over an American city. Judging from the fiery blast from the launching Ajax in the background, these two ground crew may not make it away in time. This is an excellent model for that time that still rates well today. It features detailed missile with separating stages, operating control surfaces, operating launcher and more. The launcher is designed to connect other models to form an entire Nike Ajax Battery for the ultimate diorama. Molded in olive drab and white. The model has never been started. The white plastic parts and decals are still factory sealed; the olive drab parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete and includes decals and instructions.

1954 Pre-S release. The Pre-S and S kits are considered the apex of model kit box art and it is easy to see why these kits are so desired and collectible. Molded in the original gloss silver and clear and includes the clear 'Revelving Swivel Base' display stand. Inside, everything is exactly as it left the factory. The small parts are still in the original sealed bag and the larger parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions both in 'excellent+' condition. The box would grade higher than 'very good+' but there is one tiny closed pencil-point sized hole at the far right (lower) side and two same size closed holes on the short right panel.

1960s issue of this high-quality model from the original Adams Action Model molds. Features working bogies, flexible tracks, crew of two and four soldiers and more. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. These molds must have had a very interesting history. The molds were cut in the late 1950s, either at Adams or by one of Revell's contractors. It appeared to be part of the Adams/Revell 1/40 line but only Adams issued the kit. When Adams divested of the plastic kit business, most if not all of the molds were purchased by Athearn, the famous craftsman HO railroad kit manufacturer. Athearn called their new division SNAP Plastics with an address of Hillside, New Jersey. When SNAP ceased production, UPC issued this kit. While most UPC kits say 'Made in Japan' the ex-SNAP issues say 'Made in the USA' so perhaps they were molded by Athearn in New Jersey or at least a contractor. Things get even more interesting with the Life-Like issue. How Life-Like came across the molds is unfortunately unknown but it may have been in a bulk-purchase of molds from Athearn since there were in the same general part of the country. This is simply conjecture, however.

Very rare kit from 2006. This is the only model made of this subject. The SM-84 was the replacement for the SM-79. It served well as a level bomber but did best in the intended torpedo role. SM-84s gave the Royal Navy a hard time in the Med, including torpedoing the battleship HMS Nelson. This is a nicely molded, limited-run model with all main injection molded parts and resin engines fronts. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

Universal Powermaster's 2nd reissue of the 1957 Adams 'Action Model' that is amazingly well detailed for that time. Features rotating, elevating and recoiling gun, working track and hatches, hinged platform that opens and closes, working extension ramp, crew and much more. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag and includes decals and instructions. This kit has a fascinating history. After Adams became disillusioned with plastic model kit production (perhaps partially due to interaction with Revell's founder), they sold most if not all of the molds to Athearn, the famous craftsman HO train kit manufacturer. Athearn reissued many of the kits under the SNAP name. This name sometimes caused confusion. Many people thought they were snap-together kits; they couldn't have been more wrong. Athearn did a simple modification to each mold; where it would say ADAMS (usually on a part or area that did not show), they machined that away and put the SNAP logo. At some point Athearn stopped production and eventually sold the molds. However, during this time in the 1960s, UPC decided to reissue many of these kits. Evidently Athearn did the molding or a job shop did, while UPC produced their own boxes, instructions and decals. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers (many in Japan) and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. However, the famous Roy Grinnell did the 2nd issue UPC artwork for the ex-Adams AA Gun, M-40 (this kit) and perhaps others. All UPC production ended in the 1970s. NOTE: instructions are SNAP instructions. I have seen this before and evidently UPC used up Athearn's stock of instructions in their kits. Given the cost of printing back then, this would have been a wise move.
