From 1966 and very well detailed like all early Revell sailing ships. This full-hull model features complete deck fittings & deck housings, deadeyes, fife rails, ships boats, five piece masts with separately molded platforms and cross trees, separately mold yards that can be positioned at any angle, display stand & name plate, premolded ratlines, optional sails, standing and running rigging material and full rigging instructions. Molded in three colors; black, white and wood tan. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes color flag sheet, decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the original owner painted out the Revell logo at the top right; that is the only reason that the box is graded only 'good-.' The Stag Hound was designed by the famous Donald McKay and was launched on December 7, 1850. She is famous for her great speed and turned a nice profit for her owners. The most notable event was when the Stag Hound was asked to take a copy of President Lincoln's inaugural address to London. During this run, she raced the steamer 'America' and won easily. Shortly after this she was lost off Brazil to a spontaneous combustion of her coal cargo. The crew successfully abandoned ship. The captain was the last to leave. He lowered the American Flag, wrapped it around himself and jumped overboard.

Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decals were once stuck to the large fold-out color illustration. As a result the decals are only 'fair.' Most of the damage is between the transfers, but there is some damage on some of the smaller decals also. There is certainly enough there to make a new sheet using the instructions located on this website on how to save and reproduce old decals. The large foldout color guide is damaged on the front 1/2 as well.

Original issue dated 1954 in 'excellent+' condition inside and out. The US Antique series was the first one to have real box art for the exact kit inside. This kit is from old hobby shop stock and has never been sold retail until now; but the box does has light wear as shown. Inside the box, it has not been started. All the parts are still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. Includes instructions. This is from the issues produced with Gowland & Gowland as it carries their 'balloon' logo on the box top a the lower right. Not long after this, the Gowland logo would disappear completely, leaving only the Revell logo. It is also worth noting that this is one of the first non-generic Highway Pioneers boxes. Earlier boxes were all the same, with the kit number and car stamped on the side, usually with a red or black rubber stamp. This box is completely dedicated to the Bentley kit, and even has advertisements for very early Pre-S issue Revell 1954 ship and aircraft kits on the long sides.
