Nichimo 1/500 IJN Hyuga Hybrid Battleship/Aircraft Carrier Motorized, U5009-550 plastic model kit

1/500 U5009-550 Nichimo IJN Hyuga Hybrid Battleship/Aircraft Carrier Motorized

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Very Rare early issue with high-gloss collectible box art. Nichimo was founded in 1951 and was among the first post-war model kit makers. Nichimo quickly became popular in Japan for high quality and American servicemen serving in Japan and the Pacific quickly spread the work of these kits which lead to world-wide distribution. In the late 1950s or early 1960s they cut molds for a series of very popular 1/500 scale IJN battleships and cruisers; all early issues were motorized and had fantastic artwork. This model is designed for motorized operation in water or can be built for static full-hull or waterline display. It features a Mabuchi RE-26 motor in the original colorful box, motorizing hardware with switch, all steel & brass gear box for dual propeller drive, dual stuffing boxes, threaded metal prop shafts, universal connectors, wiring and brass battery contacts, original tubes of Nihonomokei Co. Ltd. 'Adhertic PS' (glue) and 'Silicone Glyce' (lubricant), one piece lower hull molded in a very realistic 'IJN Hull Red', one piece (gray) upper hull, four scale propellers and rudder for the display version, detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main turrets (one is the power switch - rotate the turret to turn on the motor), secondary turrets and AA guns, conversion parts for rear flight deck and superstructure, catapults, float planes and more. The kit has never been started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags with color headers. The only opened bag was the hardware parts and they have been inventoried complete. Includes full color flag sheet and large-format, roll-out instructions. Please NOTE: the box displays 'excellent' but is graded 'very good+' because there is remains of clear tape at the bottom of all 4 sides.
