12 Squared Rearwin Speedster - 50 Inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft, D7 plastic model kit

D7 12 Squared Rearwin Speedster - 50 Inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Very rare, large-scale model from the late 1930s. It is one of the few Megow 'Big Wingspan' scale kits that were the flagships of the line. They were expensive so few of them sold, hence the rarity today. While designed for free-flight rubber operation, the size of the aircraft makes it ideal for conversion to electric or gas power and R/C operation (R/C and motors not included). The Rearwin features many sheets of high quality printwood, factory cut wing ribs, stripwood and spars, fully formed wheel halves (4 total to make two wheels), balsa blocks as required, metal stock as required, a glass bottle of Megow Dope (dried up), fully formed thrust button & metal propeller bearing/washer, tailwheel, orange & white covering tissue and what I believe to be a 'Megow Motor Hum' accessory inside the small paper envelope with the other small parts. The Motor Hum is not mentioned in the instructions but was often put into the higher priced kits. The 'Motor Hum' replicated the sound of an aircraft motor; it is a metal sproket with another flexible metal 'clicker' and is similar in operation to noise makers that were connected to the tire of a bicycle which would then make a sound tied to the rotational speed of the wheel. Includes excellent, full-size plans with extensive construction notes. Never started and complete.
