1/490 H383 Revell USS Yorktown CV-5 Aircraft Carrier
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good+
1967 first issue hardbox. The Yorktown was one of three prewar sister carriers with Enterprise (CV-6) and Hornet (CV-8). Yorktown saw extensive action in the Coral Sea, the first sea battle in which opposing forces did not sight each other from warships. At Midway she fought alongside Enterprise and Hornet, but was lost after the battle in an epic struggle to save the ship. This is a very nicely molded and detailed kit for that time and features a one-piece 20" long full hull with rudder and propeller detail, fore and aft internal hangar deck sections that are visible through side hangar doors, correct island structure and catwalks that differentiated Yorktown from her sisters, 20 Douglas SBD Dauntless airwing (well molded with raised panel lines and propellers), movable cranes, separately molded AA guns, optional position elevators and more. The box art shows the prewar high-vis finish, and decals are included for prewar markings for the ship and aircraft. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the decal sheet has bug damage. The transfers are about 90% intact. If you are building the kit, I recommend the superb Starfighter Decals designed for this kit and also many of the other older Revell aircraft carrier models.
