O-lin 1/87 Pioneer Locomotive - Chicago & Northwestern - HO Scale, 100 plastic model kit

1/87 100 O-lin Pioneer Locomotive - Chicago & Northwestern - HO Scale

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

This is a very rare kit for the advanced collector. It has a 'very good++' box and inside it is never started and complete. This model has a fascinating history. In the 1930s, Paul Lindberg and a Mr. Olsen (hence the 'O-Lin' name produced a line of balsa wood flying aircraft models. However, immediately after WWII, O-Lin was busy producing some of the earliest American injection molded kits in the United States. Since it has always appeared the O-Lin's kit numbers were in the order of introduction of the kits, This Locomotive model is kit number 100 and may predate even the O-Lin PT-17, which is from the original Varney molds (and the first injection molded aircraft model in the USA. Although we do not have verification of this, it is completely possible as the HO Scale Modeling revolution had already occurred in the 1930s and Craftsman-Style kits were all the rage. This model is actually a multi-media kit and features main structural parts and spoked & solid wheels in black injection molded plastic, brass drive shafts inside red plastic 'centering' rods, bright steel drive wheels (that go around the spoked and solid wheels) and other metal parts as well. Includes decals and illustrated &text instructions with a painting guide. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is as it left the factory. All of the metal parts and the decals are still in the factory-sealed 'krinkle' bag. The injection molded parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete. Decals and instructions are both in 'excellent+' condition.
