1/72 Mach 2 Blohm und Voss Ha-139 - Luftwaffe Minesweeper
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Good
The Ha-139 was an attractive, all metal inverted gull wing floatplane. At one time it was the largest float-equipped aircraft in the world. Initially, this was a civil aircraft and between 1937 and 1939, Deutsche Luft Hansa flew them on trans-Atlantic routes, mainly between Bathurst, Gambia and Natal, Brazil. They were catapult-launched from a tender ship (such as the Friesenland) and were able to transport 500kg of mail up to 5,000 km. At the start of World War II, the Ha-139s were transferred to the Luftwaffe where they were used for transport, reconnaissance and minesweeping in the Baltic. While successful in the civil role, they were not well suited to military work. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
