Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

This 2001 issue contains a very large and colorful decal sheet for both aircraft and is from the high quality ex-Monogram molds. Very highly detailed and features all recessed panel lines, detailed cockpit, detailed wheel wells, optional position leading edge slats and wing flaps, drop tanks, optional position speed brakes, canopy and rocket tray and more. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Around 1949 the USAF assigned a high priority to all weather fighter design and deployment. Most manufacturers built traditional two seat machines, such as the F-94. North American, however took a new approach and created one of the first true "One-Man Interceptors". Keeping the wings and landing gear from the proven F-86 Day Fighter, they made a longer and deeper fuselage with a large radome and J47 engine. Guns were replaced with 24 2.75" folding fin rockets. Although more than a ton heavier than the F-86, the Dog was the fasted aircraft of it's day and set several world records. 2,504 were built and formed the backbone of America's air defense system in the 1950s.
