106 Wagon Masters Chuck Wagon - 'Wagons of the Old West' - With Wagon Masters Ox Team Kit
Wood and Metal Model Kit, Box Condition: Good++
Also includes Wagon Masters #952:298 Ox Team, which includes two hardwood oxen fully carved to the scale of the wagon. Never started and complete with all parts, yoke and instructions. Box is 'Exc+'. The wagon kit is very nicely done and from the late 1950s or early 1960s. The Chuck Wagon is a large and fairly elaborate kit with very good scale details for it's time. Measures 8 inches long when assembled (wagon only) or 16.5 inches long (wagon with rear table down and tongue). Kit consists of California redwood and sugar pine wooden parts all completely cut to shape, pre-assembled hardwood front and rear wagon wheels with spokes, canvas wagon cover, rope, scale hand tools and metal and brass stock as needed. Features metal sprung seat, full underside detail with axles, brake beam and shoes, reach, hound, cross bed tie, double tree and single trees, hand brake, water barrel, hinged rear board (table), tool box, interior shelves, wire frame, canvas cover and tongue with neck yolk. The kit has never been started. The metal fittings bag is still factory sealed. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete with instructions. Wagon Masters was out of 12551 Telegraph Rd, Sante Fe Springs, California. No zip code was listed, so the kits are definitely pre 1964. Wagon Masters had a ambitious line of wagons done in hardwood and metal; some had plastic details. Kit in the series included kit #100 Covered Wagon, #101 Conestoga Wagon, #103 Stage Coach, #102 Buckboard, #104 Ore Wagon (with genuine copper ore), #105 Ranch Wagon, #1-6 Chuck Wagon, Yellowstone Wagon, Jerkey Wagon, Sheepherder's Wagon, Drummers' Wagon, #950 Horse Team, #951 Mule Team and #952 Ox Team. All kits were done in the same scale, but the scale was not listed. Other kits may have been issued. In the mid 1960s it appears that the entire line was sold to CraftMaster. CraftMaster put their stickers on some of the later model Wagon Master boxes before converting over to all CraftMaster artwork.
