The Type XXI U-Boats were the world's first true submarines; they could travel at high speeds for great distances underwater and attack without visual contact with the targets. The 'snort' allowed them to recharge the batteries and renew the air, eliminating the last needs for surfacing. A development of the Walther Peroxide Boats, the XXIs were seen as a faster way to put a more advanced submarine into service.

The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The two battleships of the Regina Margherita class were built for the Italian Regia Marina between 1898 and 1905. Earlier Italian battleships were not powerful enough to go up against foreign capital ships and were two slow to chase down cruisers; this class successfully addressed both issues. There were ships: Regina Margherita and Benedetto Brin. The ships were designed by the latter's namesake, Benedetto Brin, who died before the ships were completed. Armed with four 12 inch guns, they could achieve a speed of 20 knots which was very respectable for that time. Both ships saw extensive service for the first decade of their careers. They fired in anger in the Italo-Turkish War of 1911–1912, where they participated in the seizure of Cyrenaica in North Africa and operations in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. by the time WWI started, they were reduced to training ships; however, both ships were shortly lost with a heavy loss of life. Benedetto Brin exploded in Brindisi in September 1915 and Regina Margherita struck a mine and sank in December 1916.

The metal tube is in amazing 'near mint' condition and is not the usual small size issued with the early kits. It measures about 15 inches long when assembled and features full detail on the top two decks, all cannons, complete deck fittings, prefabricated rat lines, vac sails, full standing and running rigging material, display stand and much more. The model has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, flags, sails, thread and instructions present. The sails are in remarkable 'near mint' condition. Please NOTE that the box is only 'good-' due to clear packing tape at the two lower corners and a closed corner split at the upper left; there is also general wear and scuffs. The anchor stocks of this kit have molded-on rings; more often than not, the rings are either short shot or broken off; this kit is no exception.
