1983 Golden Wings issue from high quality Airfix molds. Features interior detail, crew members, optional position canopies, rotating wheels and propeller, optional bomb or torpedo configurations and folded or unfolded wings. Decals are for the colorful pre-war 'Yellow Wing" aircraft from VT-5, USS Yorktown. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The box display better than the 'very good' ranking but it rated as such because the golden tokens have been neatly cut from the lower side panel.

In the 1970s, MPC released the very popular Profile Series. Inside each box was a quality Airfix kit but with MPC decals to build any of the aircraft shown on the box top. In this case there are decals for four aircraft. This is a well detailed model that features a great deal of interior and all crew stations, opening bomb bay doors, full bomb bay detail, complete weapons load, moving ailerons, elevators & rudder, optional position landing gear and more. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition which is very rare for these 1970s MPC kits. But before you use any older decals, please read the two articles (on this website) about saving and also reproducing old decals.

I used to think that this was the old Airfix molds; however, the inside of the lower fuselage says "CPG Products Group 1983" so I am no longer certain of the mold origins. NOTE: the golden tokens on the lower box side are neatly cut out and gone.

Please note that the box is graded 'good-' due to a darking of the cardboard by age foxing.

Very highly detailed kit that includes all parts to build it flying or detailed static display. The desk model can be built with a clear nose and visible capsule for the Vostok 1 version, or with a clear nose for the Sputnik 1 mission, showing the satellite.
