1/48 1189 Hasegawa Kyushu J7W1 Shinden
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Sealed Good+
Large scale Shinden is still factory sealed but the seal has split and shrunk, drawing the box top concave as shown. Features full cockpit/interior, standing pilot figure and optional position landing gear and canopy. The amazing Shinden was a radical design and the first canard aircraft in Japan. The basic design was first tested in the MXY6 motor glider with a 22 hp engine in 1943. The tests were considered a success, and design of the J7W1 begane in June of 1944. Various configurations were tried, and the prototype modeled here has the rear mounted 2000 hp engine, 6 blade prop, 20 degree sweep back to the wing, two vertical stabilizers and four nose mounted 30mm cannon. It flew two weeks before the end of WWII but never saw combat.
