1/25 101-198 Renwal 1966 Mercer Modern Classic Revival
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc
The idea behind Renwal's Revival Series came from the Detroit design team of Virgil M. Exner Sr. (the famous Chrysler designer) and his son, Virgil Jr. The famous design team, somewhat displeased with modern automobiles, started thinking about what the old time classics would look like today - if made by Packard, Mercer, Duesenberg and Stutz. Virgil Sr. and Jr. thus designed four modern classics and they were published in a national magazine - Renwal then began production of these four. This Mercer features a complete engine with four carburetors, opening hood, full interior, side pipes and more. It is very cleverly designed to minimize painting by being molded in gloss deep red (body), white (interior & engine), two trees of chrome plat and clear. Includes narrow-whitewall rubber tires. There are even instructions and some parts for slot-car conversion, but the slot car chassis & motor was sold separately. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The parts that were sealed at the factory are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete and includes instructions. Even the Renwal packing inspection green paper tags are present.
