Aurora HC-1B Chinook - (CH-47), 1/48, 350-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$85

Second issue hardbox issue with a 1961 date, but from about 1965 because of the simplified logo. The 'excellent+' condition box shows off the classic Jo Kotula artwork to full effect. This very large 1/48 scale kit features good cockpit and rotor detail, moving rotors, clear side and cockpit windows and full decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box displays better than the 'excellent+' grade but is rated as such because there is tape residue on at the center of the two long sides.

Aurora Bell AH-1G Assault Copter, 1/48, 501-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$68

1967 issue with a superb 'excellent' condition box with factory-new gloss & color and four solid corners. After the sales slow down in the mid 1960s, Aurora realized that it must put out higher quality models to compete; this AH-1G is one of those highly improved kits. Features very fine raised surface detail, very good dual cockpits, crew of two, external ordnance, rotating main and tail rotors and more. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Piasecki H-25A Army Mule, 1/48, 502-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$119

Second issue from 1957. The original issue Jim Cox box artwork was retained and you can clearly see where the 1956 Northern Lights rectangular logo was positioned and is replaced by the yellow rectangle with the new Sunburst Famous Fighters logo. Earlier in the 1950s a company called 'Helicopters for Industry' created a line of large, early kits. In 1956 Aurora bought the molds and quickly reissued these models with new box artwork. Large kit features cockpit with instrument panel, control sticks and seats, spinning rotors and 'Army Mule' decals. Molded in the correct gloss olive drab and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora British Churchill Tank, 1/48, 315-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$70

This hardbox issue is dated 1966 and in rare 'Excellent++' condition. In those days, it was said by reviewers that Aurora made the best tank kits - this one is no exception. Features all moving bogies and drive wheels, flexible black treads, elevating main gun, rotating turret, one tankman, three soldiers and decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora US Army 8 Inch Howitzer Gun, 1/48, 307-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$62

Second issue hardbox from 1963 of this rare kit with great John Steel artwork. This is a well detailed model for that time which features 96 pieces, moving wheels, breech, recoil mechanism, limber and gun trails. Molded in gloss olive drab green and with black rubber tires. NOTE: this kit has very minor and 'professional' quality subassembly to only two parts: the gun barrel halves. There is no other assembly and zero painting. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The box displays higher than the 'very good++' rating but it graded as such because there is scuffing on the four sides; the sides only rate 'good+.'

Revell Avro Dam Buster Lancaster With Secret Bomb, 1/72, H202-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$40

First issue hardbox from 1963. This very popular model features specially modified Lancaster fuselage, Dam Buster Secret Bomb, special release mechanism, retractable landing gear, rotating propellers and wheels, movable control surfaces and more. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The Dam Busters squadron was famous for its daring raids on three German dams on May 16, 1943. Carrying the special Barnes Wallis-designed bombs, the Lancasters flew very low over the water in the face of heavy flak to drop the rotating bombs perfectly. Many did not return. The bombs did perform as promised, first skipping over the water, hitting the dam, then rolling down 30 feet before exploding with tremendous force. In an airburst, these bombs would not have damaged the dams, but since water is incompressible, the dams were breached.
