Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG+

$39

Rare and still factory sealed. This AHM release is from the original Crown molds that would make it 1/50 scale; Burn guide lists the mold origins as unknown and lists it as 1/48. Crown made a very good line of motorized tanks and AHM reissued many of them. Associated Hobby Manufactures was an American company that did not cut it's own molds but sourced model kits from around the world through the 1960s and probably into the 1970s as well.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$285

Hard-to-find first issue in the 1968-dated hardbox. This kit was issued in conjunction with the TV series 'The Invaders' and represents the spaceship on the series. The box has like-new color and gloss, solid corners and no tape, price tags or litho tears. A slight bit of wear on the right short side and a very slight (and hard-to-see) crease at the lower right are the only flaw worth noting. The kit features retractable landing legs, detailed interior with four figures, removable top and optional clear top. Inside, the kit is mint. The parts are the original gloss medium gray. The model has never been started and has been inventoried complete with all parts and instructions. There are several differences between this first edition and the second release. The first one has the original box artwork, the clear top and gray 'lights' for the bottom. There is no stand in this issue. The second issue does not have a clear top, has red-tinted clear 'lights' for the underside, a display stand and 6 additional aliens for the ground base.

Mandrill Convair XF2Y Sea Dart - Supersonic Float Plane - With Rivet Detail - (ex Strombecker) - (YF2Y-1), 1/60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: No Box

$69

Rare Mandrill reissue of Strombeckers famous Sea Dart model from the 1950s. This was a bagged-only release and never had a box. Molded in dark blue plastic. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes the correct Mandrill-issued instructions. Please NOTE that Mandrill did not furnish decals with this kit. Strombecker was very well known for producing the finest pre-carved hardwood aircraft and missile kits, but they had a very short journey into the plastic model field. After making the Sea Dart kit in 1956, they added four more for a total of 5 injection molded aircraft kits. All were discontinued in the mid 1960s. The Sea Dart was a supersonic design that could take off and land from water using retractable hydro-skis. Five prototypes were built and over 300 test flights made. The advent of the super carrier spelled the end of the Sea Dart, although 4 still exist on display today. Mandrill was founded by Bob Bennett in 1988 and he purchased the Strombecker molds from Polk's Hobby and Modelcraft. This kit was released in 1989. Mandrill also re-issued the plastic 1/130 scale Strombecker Martin China Clipper in a plain white box with no decals or instructions. These are the only two known releases from Mandrill.

Huma Model Arado Ar-80, 1/72, 3005

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$36

Very nicely molded kit with all fine recessed panel lines. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The AR-80 was Arado's entry to compete with the German Air Ministry's request for a new fighter to replace the existing He-51 and AR-68. The other aircraft in competition with the Ar-80 were the Fw-159, He-112 and Bf-109. Despite loosing to the '109, several were built for testing and other purposes.

Huma Model Arado Ar-396 - Bagged, 1/72, 3003

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$18

The highly successful Ar-96 was an all metal aircraft designed by Walter Blume. It first flew in 1938 and quickly became the Luftwaffe's standard advanced trainer for the duration of WWII. The Ar-396 was a direct development of the Ar-96; the main difference was that it used less strategic materials. The Ar-396 A-1 was single-seat gunnery trainer that was powered by an Argus As 411 engine and built largely from wood. This model is the two seater version, which would appear to be the A-2 instrument trainer. Still factory sealed. Nicely molded model with recessed panel lines, good cockpit, crew, bomb load and more. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Huma Model Gotha Go-145 B / C / D, 1/72, 3002

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$32

The Go-145 is one of the most successful aircraft designs in the history of aviation. Over 12000 were built in Germany, Turkey and Spain. The design was rugged, easy to build and simple to maintain. It saw service as a trainer for radio, aerobatics, gunnery, photo recon and instrument training. It also saw combat service from 1942 on as a night bomber. Model builds any of three versions - two seater with gunnery position / Multi-role night intruder / two seater with enclosed canopy and spatted wheels. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Huma Model Flettner Fl-282 - Bagged, 1/72, 6500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$19

Limited run, injection-molded plastic kit with full instructions and decals. NOTE: this kit has minor, 'professional' quality subassembly as follows: engine assembly (4 parts) is built. There is no other assembly. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Successful German WWII helicopter design, and the first with counter-rotating intermeshing blades (in 1938). A further development of the Fl-265, flight tests showed that the Fl-282 was an excellent helicopter. It even flew from destroyers and minelayers while underway in the Baltic and Med. 1000 were ordered, but by the end of WWII only 24 had been built.
