Very Rare. In the mid 1950s, Aurora was searching for faster and less expensive ways to expand their model kit line beyond simply designing new kits then cutting new molds. Aurora was able to find several such sellers, like Comet, Best, Helicopters for Industry and others. However, their most famous and profitable deal they negotiated was the purchase three 'Knight' molds from Crown Plastics. They quickly issued them as K1, K2 and K3 and these were the very first Aurora figure kits. This first issue from 1956 has the one-year-only Aurora 'Northern Lights' logo with the correct 'Crown Line' logo inside it. Inside, the kit is mint as it left the factory. The shiny, very dark blue plastic parts are complete and there is a red feather plume. The instructions are correct with the Crown logo in the Aurora logo.

Big scale model features high-quality printwood, factory-cut stringers & spars, balsa stock and blocks as required, fully formed wood main wheels & two thrust buttons, hardwood dowels for landing gear struts, wood and metal stock, four sheets of color insignia, clear canopy material, covering material and more. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream- to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest running single-owner (77 years) model airplane supply business - Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's great Recruiter - Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Rare three-foot wingspan flying model from 1943. The 'Industrial Training' models were Cleveland's response to a wartime need for simplified models that did not sacrifice realism. All of the Industrial Training models had a constant 3 foot wingspan and were essentially simplified 'SF' kits. The line was a big sales success during the war and was expanded from the original 6 kits to 11 total. This one features quality printwood sheets, factory-cut stringers and spars, two fully finished engine nacells, fully finished nose, main wheels & thrust buttons, hardwood dowels for gear struts, balsa blocks and other stock as required, clear material for nose, cockpit and rear blister, two sheets of color insignia and more. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and includes Cleveland's world-famous full size plans with numerous building instruction notes.
