Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: NM

Rare 1957 first and only Revell issue in investment-grade "Near Mint" condition. When sales of the dramatic XSL-01 Moon Rocket did not meet expectations, Revell molded the top stage in a different color plastic from the XSL-01, added a special 3D Moon Base Stand and boxed it as this stand-alone kit. The result was this Moon Ship with incredible box art. The box art invites you to 'Enter the Age of Space' with these action features: retractable landing ski, removable fuselage section with detailed cabin with controls and instrument panels and a crew of three astronauts. Molded in correct baby blue plastic. This model has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Box condition details: The color and gloss are perfect. The box looks as if it was just removed from the original shipping box. It actually displays 'Mint' but is graded as 'Near Mint' because there is a very small factory tape litho pull on the long upper long side. The litho pull is on the bottom edge and measures 7mm x 7mm.

Rare hardbox kit from 1961 has fantastic artwork of an RAF Canberra flying over 'The Rock'. This example is in amazing investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition with factory new color and gloss, four solid and original corners, no repairs, no fading, creasing or tears, no price tags or tag marks and no tape or tape marks at all. The only flaws are very light wear as hown on the box top. Based on the 1950s B-57 "S" kit, the Whip-Fly Canberra comes with RAF decals, flight ballast, control handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions included. Included in the famous 'Whip Fly' series are the H151 F9F-8 Cougar, H152 F-84F, H153 F-89D Scorpion, H154 F8U-1 Crusader, H155 F-39 Airacobra and H156 F-101A Voodoo. Although not listed yet, there was also a Whip-Fly Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home near groups of children was not the best idea. The series was quickly discontinued.

First Revell issue dated 1953 with a wonderful hardbox illustration. Features well molded wagon with equipment, real metal chain, horses with material for harnesses, dog and fireman. The kit has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions present. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This issue is from when Revell still had the marketing agreement, as it says 'Trade Mark Copyright 1953 Marlin Toy Co. Inc' on the box top and 'Collector's Kits, Inc, Closter, N.J.' on the side.

1960 issue molded in green plastic. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag including instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Rare. This is the narrow box version of the early 1960s 'Custom Car Parts' Bumpers and Grills. All parts are chrome plated and the instructions are on the reverse of the card. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts. The other issue was the same part number and title but packed in a card with a clear plastic blister-pack. Although these are not dated, I believe the blister-pack/card version to be the later issue.

Rare. Narrow-box issue of the 'Custom Car Parts' from the early to mid 1960. Oddly, this is the same kit number and parts tree as "Dream Car Bumpers and Grilles" but with a different name. All parts are chrome plated and the instructions are on the reverse of the card. Never used and inventoried 100% complete.

Original hardbox issue from 1957 and not the common reissue. This is a very well detailed model for that time and features fully operational launcher and crew. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that the box is only graded 'good' because 'OK' is written on the box top and two short sides in permanent black market and there is one closed split corner. There is also general wear (mainly the edges) as shown.

1969 Jet Commando issue. This is a reissue (probably the last) of the original 'S' kit from the 1950s. Makes a perfect 'Classic Build' model. Features optional position landing gear and wing tips, VF-11 markings and four AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE there is bug damage to the decal backing paper, but the actual transfers have no bug damage. The box has corner damage in the lower right and a 2" x .75" section missing on the upper long side.

1954 issue of this classic kit. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear and with the famous clear 'Revelving Swivel Base.' The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. NOTE: the box would grade higher than 'excellent' but there is a very, very light stain below the front of the aircraft. It is difficult to see. This kit has an interesting history. The first issue came out in the 'short' hardbox that had the full version of this artwork with a port and ocean scene in the background. The first version also had the one-piece stand arm and the instructions that reflected that. The second issue had the same artwork, but with a completely different background that gave better contrast. There may be a 'one-piece' stand arm version in this revised artwork, but I have yet to see one.

Rare. 1961 issue in the Whip Fly 'Master Modeler' series. Does include the Master Modeler Trading Stamp (for the Competition Corvette) and MM application form. This series was quickly discontinued when it discovered that heavily weighted models with pointed front ends swinging at terrific speeds around young children might not be safe. Based on the 1950s F-106 "S" kit, the Delta Dart Whip Fly comes with USAF decals, flight ballast, handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers (cut from the colored bag according to the instructions) for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

1958 first issue hardbox featuring some of my favorite 'S' box artwork. Correct, original issue molded in three colors. Not a reproduction. The box is in 'very good+++' condition with great color and gloss. There are no price tags, no tag marks, no litho tear or missing litho, no fading, four solid original corners and no stains. Flaws include even light general wear as shown, a very short and mild crease at the upper left and residue from thin, clear tape on all four sides. Loaded with working features typical of kits at the time. The entire gantry tower folds back and moves on railroad base, the elevator moves to the four different work platforms and the Explorer Satellite can be removed from the Jupiter rocket. Includes crew of 7. Inside, the kit has never been started. Parts are molded in red, medium gray and white. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and completely flat 'very good++' condition decals and 'very good' instructions with typical yellowing and some edge wear, the heaviest at the bottom.

Very light shelf wear (as shown)is the only flaw. Large scale, detailed model features movable propeller, wheels & control stick, detailed engine, removable cowling, complete cockpit, complete rigging instructions and three crew members. Molded in the correct red. Never started. The parts and all paperwork are still in the internal factory sealed bags. Literally everything inside is factory sealed.

Rare. This 1958 'S' hardbox release is the only single issue of this kit. Features elevating missile trailer, four figures, movable fuel boom, fuel truck and trailer, launch pad/blast shield/missile supports, launcher base and more. Includes optional parts and decals for making the Thor-Able version. Molded in correct white and dark blue. NOTE: this kit has very minor and neatly done assembly to 3 pieces: missile halves and fin assembly are built to 'excellent' quality. There is no other assembly. Inventoried and NOTE: missing one tire. Otherwise complete with all other parts, decals and instructions. Decals are both in 'excellent++' condition. Instructions are 'good.'

Pre 'S' first issue dated 1955, which is considered the 'Golden Age' of box artwork. From this superb example it is easy to see why the 'S' and Pre-'S' kits are so collectible. Inside, this well-molded model features fine surface detail, rotating wheels, cockpit & pilot and more. Includes the famous 'Revelving' clear globe stand. Molded in gloss silver and clear. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
