First Issue from 1967. Very finely molded with excellent detail and traditional Monogram quality. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The Hawk P-36A has the dubious distinction of fighting on both sides and for more countries than any other plane in history during the opening years of WWII. This Hawk, one in a long progression of famous fighter aircraft, was the winner of a 1935 competition. The USAA Corps received the first aircraft in April of 1938 and the French ordered 100 aircraft in May of the same year. French Hawks shot down just over 30 German planes during the battle for France. The Germans captured the aircraft and sold them to Finland. Others were captured when the Germans overran Norway. In all over 800 Hawks were produced and served in China, Netherlands East Indies, Portugal, Great Britain, Thailand, Argentina and Peru. Although an excellent fighter in 1935, the Hawk was outclassed by the time the war started but when flown properly still gave a good account of itself.

Early Monogram model dated 1955. The box is in excellent condition with brilliant, like new color and gloss. This is the third issue of this kit since it has 'PA6-98' and 'The Name For Quality Hobby Kits' in the box top logo (the second issue has 'Four Star Plastikit' in the logo). The actual release for this kit is probably between 1961 and 1966. Although created to 'box scale' (1/67 in this case), this model was very popular and remained a good seller well into the 1970s. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

From the original Aurora molds. The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread off Guadalcanal. On September 14, 1942, I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when the crew made visual contact with American forces. After working into position, she fired a 6 torpedo spread; three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 Wasp and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank and the North Carolina was under repair until November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. She was depth-charged and sunk by DD-446 Radford on 11.25.43, off Makin Island. This large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled. It is an excellent model for that time from Aurora's improved quality and detail efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that the older kits were outclassed and cut a new series of better molds including several ships, helos and subs. The result was higher mold quality and very good detail, such as this kit. Features full hull with excellent molded detail, deck with proper molded-in wood planking, complete propeller & rudder detail, periscope and cranes, Glen seaplane, conning tower, deck guns and more. Includes a display stand. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried and includes all plastic parts and photocopied instructions. NOTE: missing decal and the original instructions.
