Sterling P-51D Mustang Drops Bombs In Flight - 24 Inch Wingspan for R/C / Control Line / Free Flight, A13

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$79

From the early to mid 1960s. This kit is part of Sterling's expensive big-wingspan series that was designed for R/C and also includes numerous extra parts for control line operation. It can also be flown free-flight. Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic engine cowl, spinner, air scoop, exhaust manifolds, bomb and many other details, perfect condition vacuformed plastic canopy that is not even yellowed, rubber motor, plastic propeller, a big set of decals, coving tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. Never started. The small parts are still factory sealed in the Sterling bag; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Airfix Fairey Rotodyne, 1/72, 04002

1980s reissue from the original molds. This is a very good kit that is well detailed with 115 pieces. never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Rotodyne first flew in 1957. The purpose was to create the first true vertical take-off airliner that could operate from an area no larger than two tennis courts with a full load. The Rotodyne flew at up to 191 MPH with a range of 450 miles and a payload of 48 passengers or 5 tons of freight. Despite the excellent performance and a larger design in the works, the RAF never placed an order and BEA never placed a firm order. The project was discontinued in 1962.

Topping Martin SM-68 Titan ICBM - Factory Model, 1/68

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$1400

Rare factory model from about 1957 or 1958. Missile measures 18 inches high. Includes original box in excellent condition with inside packing materials. The model is mint and original. No restoration has been done and there are no flaws. The original base in in the same condition. The rocket separates into 'stages' as the actual missile did. Titan I was the first USA multi-stage Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. Designed in 1955, it was originally a back-up for the Atlas program. Titan was larger than Atlas and was also seen as an early space launch vehicle. Titan was stored in hardened underground silos. The arrival of solid fuel Titan II and Minuteman I missiles in 1963 made Titan I obsolete. The follow-on, Titan II became a major workhorse in the space program and served well as a heavy lift ICBM.

Aurora HMS King George V British Battleship, 1/600, 712-149

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM+

$110

Second box art issue of this Aurora kit which dates from 1962. The box is in remarkable, investment-grade 'Near Mint+' condition. The only significant flaws are very light stains from clear tape located at the center of the two long sides. This full hull model was very good for that time and features propeller & rudder detail, very nice superstructure, separately molded main, secondary and 20mm AA guns, raised 'wood' decking, separate details as small as searchlights and more. Includes display stands and nameplate. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes and instructions. Even the factory tissue paper is present.

Revell F-104 Starfighter With Sidewinders 'S' Issue, 1/64, H199-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$124

Fresh from old hobby shop stock with a box in 'Excellent++' condition. Somehow this box even escaped the factory sealing tape machine, as it has no sealing tape and no typical stains from the tape. The color and gloss are perfect, as are the corners. The only thing keeping it from grading higher is slight sun fading to the right short side panel. Revell took the excellent original F-104 molds and made this new issue by adding four then-new AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, ground missile trailer and ground crew. Molded in the correct correct gloss silver & clear and with the clear Revell Swivel Stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both in 'near mint' condition with very slight yellowing being the only flaw.

Revell Lockheed F-94C Starfire Interceptor - With One Piece Stand Arm - Pre 'S' Kit, 1/56, H210-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$175

1954 Pre-S issue. This is the rare second issue. The first issue was in the simple one-piece box and Revell quickly converted to this two-piece box as it was much more durable and a full-color lithographed 'slick' could be used. For the second issue, Revell added rivet and raised panel line detail as well as landing gear, a two piece box and H210-79 kit number. The famous 'Globe' clear stand was added, but this kit has the rare one piece stand arm and the instructions reflecting that. Revell quickly realized that the one-piece arm was not strong enough, and quickly modified it to the familiar three piece arm for the 3rd issue. The box is in very good++ condition with four solid corners, nice color and gloss and minimal wear with minor insect damage on the corners of one short side. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are in near mint condition. The original small parts 'krinkle' bag is present as well.

Aurora Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina, 1/74, 374-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$125

1962 issue with colorful pre-war high-visibility paint in the artwork. Please note that this is the first issue of this box art because of the 'Famous Fighters' in the border of the Aurora logo. Box is in 'very good++' condition with nice color and gloss, four solid corners and no sign of price tags or tape. There is light general wear as shown. Kit features retracting pontoons and rotating props. This version has the desirable large clear two-piece 'World' triangle-base stand. Molded in gloss silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$149

Very rare. This is the original 1960 Revell issue not the 1990s reissue. It has the beautiful John Steel painting suitable for framing. The 2.39 price extension makes this the Canadian issue. This model contains decals to build any of these sister ships - Los Angeles - Fall River - Baltimore - Pittsburgh - Columbus - Bremerton - Canberra - Toledo - Quincy - Chicago - St. Paul - Macon or Boston. It is molded in the correct glossy gray plastic for this early issue. The kit has never been started. It is factory new inside, with all the parts and all instructions, decals & flag sheet still inside the Revell factory sealed clear bag.
