Hard to find kit from the 1982 History Maker's series which includes the 3" diameter 'NASA GEMINI II' jacket patch. This is a very nicely detailed kit of this historic spacecraft. Large scale (1/24) model features full interior, detachable equipment module with internal details including oxygen supply, fuel cells, batteries, electronics and more. The kit has not been started. The plastic parts are inventoried complete and includes instructions and the excellent 'Gemini Program' booklet. NOTE: Missing decals. The box has a water stain on the left side as shown and it extends down the left short side.

Rare early 1950s USA plastic model kit. This is the larger of the two Comet S2Fs in near 1/48 scale. As with most Comet kits, this one is well molded with all recessed panel detail and no unsightly rivets. Features retractable sonar dome and MAD boom, extensive clear windows, wing search light with clear cover, rocket under-wing load out, rotating propellers and display stand. Molded in gloss light gray and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Much older 1940s Comet issue of this rubber-powered, stick-and-tissue flying model. Features a large sheet of printwood, factory-cut spars and stringers, fully finished wooden whees, dowel for gear struts, clear canopy material, nose block and other stock wood parts as required, covering tissue and Comet's excellent full size plans that including building notes and historical information. Never started and complete with all parts and includes all paperwork. These aircraft models were common from the 1930s to the early 1950s when the sport of free-flight model airplanes was at it's zenith. It was not uncommon to see one fly for 45 minutes or more on rubber power alone - many flew out of site, and it became common practice to write your name, address and phone number on the covering tissue. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Original issue from 1979 from the world-famous Twentieth Century Fox movie. Very large scale model that measures over 18 inches long when assembled. Detailed cockpit and rear jets are illuminated. Seated figures of Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca and Han Solo are included. The radar antenna and laser cannons tilt and swivel. The laser cannons are also illuminated. The cargo ramp opens and closes and the landing gear can be displayed or stowed to 'in-flight' mode. Molded in gray, clear and with metal parts and very small light bulbs. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the internal factory sealed bags and the parts never factory sealed (clear parts) have been inventoried complete including instructions.

Rare Mandrill reissue of Strombeckers famous Sea Dart model from the 1950s. This was a bagged-only release and never had a box. Molded in dark blue plastic. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes the correct Mandrill-issued instructions. Please NOTE that Mandrill did not furnish decals with this kit. Strombecker was very well known for producing the finest pre-carved hardwood aircraft and missile kits, but they had a very short journey into the plastic model field. After making the Sea Dart kit in 1956, they added four more for a total of 5 injection molded aircraft kits. All were discontinued in the mid 1960s. The Sea Dart was a supersonic design that could take off and land from water using retractable hydro-skis. Five prototypes were built and over 300 test flights made. The advent of the super carrier spelled the end of the Sea Dart, although 4 still exist on display today. Mandrill was founded by Bob Bennett in 1988 and he purchased the Strombecker molds from Polk's Hobby and Modelcraft. This kit was released in 1989. Mandrill also re-issued the plastic 1/130 scale Strombecker Martin China Clipper in a plain white box with no decals or instructions. These are the only two known releases from Mandrill.
