Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: VG+

1962 hardbox issue with what is probably John Steel artwork. This was a good model for that time featuring full hull, display stand, working diving planes rotating propeller, working upper and lower rudders, detailed atomic reactor, removable reactor hatch and more. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that the box displays 'Excellent++' but is graded 'Very Good+.' This hardbox issue is 1961 but is actually from the mid 1960s due to not having 'Famous Fighters' in the border of the oval logo. This model has incredible John Steel artwork and features full hull, display stand, detailed conning tower and deck, periscopes, 20mm and 37mm guns, 105mm main deck gun, bow net cutter, full diving planes and propeller detail and decal. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Please NOTE that the box displays in 'Near Mint' condition but is graded only 'Excellent' because there is some dry residue from masking tape near the center of the two long sides. The actual tape is long gone; it fell off.

The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread off Guadalcanal. On September 14, 1942, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank and the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl till November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. This is the 1969 hardbox issue with the 'Big A' logo. This large scale and well detailed kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled. It is from Aurora's efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s to make better models. Aurora knew that the 1950s kits were outclassed by the mid 60s and cut a new series of molds including several ships, helos and subs. The result was very good mold quality and detail. Includes large display stand molded in wood brown, decals, periscope and cranes, detailed Glen Seaplane, conning tower and deck guns. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Near Mint

Rare. The 1966 dated hardbox in outstanding, investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition; color and gloss are as new, the four corners are solid and original (no repairs), there are no price tags, no tag marks, no fading, cuts, tears or creases and no missing litho. The only flaws include very light marks from tape near the centers of the two long sides (no tape; just marks) and very slight shelf wear. This is one of Aurora's later kits with improved mold quality. It features full hull, detailed flight deck, complete interior hangar deck, opening and closing hangar deck doors, 6 Sea Knight and 6 Sea King helicopters, AA guns and more. Includes a display stand, name plate (with name decal) and full color ship decals with hull & deck markings and flag. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora knew that most of their kits were outclassed, so in the mid and late 1960s they cut a new molds with much better detail - the I-19 was one of those. Early 1970s issue of this famous kit in the YMBC release. It is in the original white 'mailer' box with the factory-glued lithograph 'slick' in 'excellent' condition. Features a one-piece full hull, propeller and rudder detail, rotating turrets, separately molded and positionable 5" secondary battery and quad 40mm AA battery, two float planes and catapults, display stand, name plate and decals. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. I have good memories of this model - because of the one piece hull, it floated very well. That and the "good" detail made it an ideal platform for BB gun target practice on my friends lake.

$850
Incredibly rare. This is among the earliest of the Aurora gift sets; please note the 1954/55 logo at the lower right and 'Famous Fighters Of The Sea' slogan. Inside are the three kits - Viking Ship, Black Falcon Pirate Ship and Chinese Junk. They are still in the original factory sealed bags. The paperwork is still factory sealed as well. It also includes the very rare set of Aurora 'Speed-Dry' Enamel paints which is still factory sealed. Please NOTE that the paint brush and glue are missing. Otherwise complete with all kits and paint still factory sealed. The box displays well but is graded 'good-' because edge wear, closed split corners, scuffs and general litho damage (mainly on top long side panel at the very bottom). I have correctly repaired the split corners from the inside with thin cardstock and book binding glue.

Large scale model in the 1967 hardbox. Very nicely molded and one of Aurora's better designed and detailed models. It is full hull, measures 11 inches long when assembled and features very nicely detailed hull planking and decoration, detailed deck and tower, individually molded oars and shields, two sails and 11 Roman Rulers, Tillers and Soldiers. Includes painting and rigging guide. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: the very tip of a rear hull half is neatly broken off but is present so you can repair it. It fits back perfectly for a simple repair.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Poor
$58
NOTE: builder or parts kit only, please read carefully. Rare, Brooklyn-produced early 1950s U-Ma-Kit. This was Aurora's first naval model. Molded in the correct glossy very dark gray plastic. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing parts. Both bow dive planes and one prop are missing. NOTE: decals have been cut out and are missing (2) eyeballs and one shark's mouth. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals (separated) and instructions. NOTE: instructions are present but completely split in two down one fold seam. The box looks better than the 'poor' rating but is graded as such because there is extensive clear tape holding the top together, stains and missing litho as shown at the bottom and on the bottom long side. The tray (lower box) is present but split along most seams.
Plastic Model Kit, Box Condition: Exc
$179
Rare, Brooklyn-produced, early 1950s U-Ma-Kit. This was Aurora's first naval model. Molded in the correct glossy very dark gray plastic and includes a display stand and decals to match the box art. Never started and complete with all parts, 'very good++' condition decals and 'near mint' instructions. The box has excellent color, four solid corners with no repairs, no fading and no price tags. The only tape is the factory sealing tape on the long sides. There is a light grease pencil price at the top center as shown and general shelf/edge wear.

Very rare item for the advanced collector. This item was from the estate of Dave Cockrum, the world-famous Aurora box artist, sculpture and kit designer. However, he is even more famous for his long history with DC and Marvel Comics. When working at Aurora, Dave had access to 'The Room'. In it were test shots from almost every Aurora kit ever made; employees were welcome to come in and take a kit when they pleased. This Flying Sub came from that room. It is a rare test shot molded in the usual test shot color - white- and includes the clear parts. Although the kit is complete, it does not have a box or instructions like most all test shots.
