On the 4th of October 1957 a specially modified R-7 Missile launched the first man-made satellite named PS-1 or "Sputnik" into orbit. PS-1 (simple satellite number one) broadcast for 92 days on 20.005 and 40.002 Mhz. The kit itself is nicely molded with all fine recessed panel line detail. The kit has never been started. 1955 issue with great box art. This was Monogram's 8th plastic aircraft kit and sported the fine fit and finish that they soon became famous for. This model has the black rubber tires is the second issue; the only difference from the first issue is the "PA" vs. "P" part number. Features rotating propellers, optional retracted or 'landing' position floats, two torpedoes and two crew members. Molded in medium blue and clear with the black rubber tires. Rare 1975 Japan issue with unique and beautiful box artwork. As with most Japan issues, this one contains extra features including decals for two aircraft and a large, full color painting on the front of the instructions. Older but nicely detailed, large-scale model of this British night fighter with airborne interception radar. The Beaufighter was flown by aces such like Flt./Lt. "Cat's Eyes" Cunningham, whose markings are included. His final score stood at 20 victories and his aircraft is one that can be depicted in this model. This model features detailed Bristol Hercules engines, removable cowling, two flight crew, optional position landing gear, full crew cockpits and radar antenna. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the large parts are not sealed and have been inventoried complete. Includes decals and instructions. My friend and model builder Stephen Payne high recommends that the purchaser of any Beaufighter Night Fighter model invests in a copy of the book "Night Fighter" by C.F. Rawnsley. Rawnsley was John Cunningham's Airborne Intercept radar operator throughout WWII in both Beaufighters and Mosquitoes. The book is the story of their time and combat together and makes excellent reading.
