Finally, the Pride of the Italian Line in 1/350 scale! The SS Rex is from the same team that brought you the 1/350 SS Normandie Ocean Liner. This four year project is a 100% new model and represents the Rex in her glory years of the mid 1930s. All design work was done in CAD by Ken Friend, a master modeler, designer and builder of experimental engines and test equipment and an engineer who specialized in CAD/CAM/CAE Systems Management and Implementation. All of the smaller parts are printed on ultra-high resolution 3D SLA resin printers. These parts meet and often exceed what is possible with injection molded plastic. Only the larger parts (hull, deck pieces and funnels)are cast resin. These are pressure-cast from de-aired molds to minimize air bubbles. The Italian Line advertised that "The Southern Route Is the Lido Deck Route." By virtue of avoiding the stormy and cold North Atlantic, travelers experienced a true outdoor lifestyle. The Rex was intentionally designed for this. For this model, extensive research and time was spent capturing the exact look of the colorful 1st and 2nd Class Aft Pool Areas- from the changing room & showers, grab rope on the pool, pool slide, stairs & diving boards, tables with umbrellas, recessed (covered) 1st Class Restaurant/Lounge and more. Because of the superior performance of 3D Printing, over 90% of the usual PE (photoetched) metal parts are now 3D printed resin. This is a vast improvement as they are no longer flat, but are true to the shape of the prototype. This also makes for a nearly complete model "out-of-the-box." Very rare model from 1991 and the only 1/32 Jungmeister model ever made. It is cast in high definition resin and features a good cockpit, detailed engine with separately molded exhaust assembly and more. Includes a very large and colorful decal sheet with all red checkerboards, stripes and registration numbers. The decal sheet in is 'near mint' condition. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. This model is dedicated in memory of Mr. Beverley Howard, one of the pioneers of acrobatic flying. He thrilled many people around the glove in his little red and white Jungmeister. His showmanship was exciting to observe and John Marco saw him fly in 1964. Mr. Howard's exact Jungmesiter was manufactured in Germany in 1936 and brought over on the Hindenburg by the late Capt. Alex Papana, 'The Famed Romanian Acrobatic Pilot' who exhibited it in the 1936 National Air Races in Los Angles and several other events. Col. Mike Murphy, International Acrobatic Champion for several years, purchased the plane in 1940 and flew it in all major USA meets and competition until retiring. Beverly Howard purchased this plane from Col. Murphy in 1946 and has flow it in all major meets since that time including events in France and Germany in 1950. When this aircraft bio was written in the early 90s, the Smithsonian Air Museum planed on exhibiting this very historic aircraft when it was retired.

Limited issue injection molded kit that is well detailed with all recessed panel lines and numerous photoetched parts on two brass frets. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. On January 10, 1945, Hitler held a conference during which the staff discussed ways that the Luftwaffe could restore a degree of air superiority. During this discussion, Hitler suggested to Goering that the 50mm cannon be installed in a '262 so that it could open fire at longer ranges with more telling results. Two different cannon were examined; the Mauser Mk214A was chosen over the Rheinmetall Borsig BK5 and was installed in Me-262 W.Nr. 111899. The aircraft made the first flight in February of 1945. The pilot, Herget, flew the craft in practice against ground targets then actually flew to operational missions against a US bomber formation. On both occasions the gun jammed. A second aircraft was built, but it likely did not fly before the end of the war. American forces captured this second aircraft (named 'Wilma Jeanne' and then 'Happy Hunter II') but it crashed while being flown to France. The decals furnished in this kit are for that second prototype.

late 1950s Cellovision issue with great Ray Gaedke artwork. This XK 120 is molded in light blue and features a one-piece body (excellent for slot car conversion), windshield, chassis/underpan, steering wheel and four wheels/tires. While a simple kit, it does have very good interior and realistic lines. Never started. The actual car has been inventoried with all plastic parts and instructions present. NOTE: missing decals. The Cellovision window is intact and in 'very good' condition and the trading card is also 'very good.' The scale is not given; I have approximated it as 1/32. The actual model is 5.125 inches long.

Large 1/200 scale kit that is very nicely molded and well detailed. Molded in two colors, red and gray. Features complete deck fittings, removable torpedo magazine covers with torpedoes inside, rotating deck gun, hand rails and five crew members. Includes all hardware for motorizing; the motor (common FA-130) must be purchased separately as Nichimo did not provide it with the kit. The kit has never been started. All of the small plastic parts are still in the factory sealed bags; the hull was never sealed and is present. The hardware bag was opened so I inventoried it and NOTE: missing (2) small screws. These are stock (generic) items and easy to replace. Otherwise included all other hardware, decals and instructions.

Early issue from the 1960s before Nichimo used part numbers. It is part of a unique and very successful 1/500 scale warship series with rare glossy box art from the 'Golden Age' of Japanese model kit illustrations. The model can be built motorized for operation in water or static full hull or waterline versions. It is very well detailed and molded for that time. Includes all hardware for motorizing with metal gear box for duel-propeller drive, brass batter contacts and switch, wire, threaded steel propeller shafts, universal joints and more, one piece lower hull (molded in an excellent simulation of IJN Hull Red), one piece upper hull (molded in gray), detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main turrets and separately molded secondary battery and AA guns, catapults, some finer details in black plastic and more. Never started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags with the Nichimo paper headers. The hardware has been inventoried complete. Includes instructions and even the original silver and gold foil covered cardboard nameplate for display. Please note that Nichimo did not furnish decals or the electric motor with these early issues.

Still factory sealed but the seal has splits. This 1985 Revell of Germany issue uses the same molds as the original 1969 issue. It is a very nice model of the German Navy's 'Lucky Ship' with an amazing history. The kit can be built waterline or full hull and features movable turrets, full primary and secondary armament, ships boats, Ar-196 floatplane and more.

From the 1970s and a reissue of the 1950s kit. Features traditional wood/tissue construction with quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood, formed wire landing gear, completely preformed wooden wheels, wood stock as required, rubber and plastic propeller & thrust button, covering tissue and building instructions. Never started. Inventoried and includes all wood, plastic and metal parts but NOTE: missing full size plans. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Very high quality kit of the Luftwaffe version of V-2. The kit features high-definition cast resin parts with fine recessed panel lines, cast white metal main gear struts and tail wheel strut & wheel, very good cockpit & crew stations and high quality vacuformed clear canopies (two) that are in mint condition; perfectly clear and no yellowing. The kit has never been started. The parts are all still in the factory sealed bags and includes decals, instructions with aircraft history. P.1067 was the designation for the design that would fly the Olympic Torch non-stop from Berlin to Tokyo for the 1940 Olympic games. The specialized, long range monoplane eventually took the name Bf-261 when V1 and V2 were built. Power was provided by two DB 606A-1/B-1 coupled engines, each of which was a pair of DB601 liquid-cooled mounts driving a very large four bladed propeller. There was a crew of 5 and bunks were provided. The work slowed as hostilities picked up. Without it's intended mission, the 261 was considered for ultra-long range reconnaissance over the Atlantic Ocean, but the difficulty of fixing proper defensive guns caused engineers to give up the project. The three aircraft were used for performance calibration flights, some of very long range (almost 2,800 miles). V3 did see action in very long range military reconnaissance. No further aircraft were built. The Luftwaffe took all three of the Bf-261s into service with hopes of using them for very long range operations. V-1 and V-2 were extensively tested and modified for this purpose; their wartime participation is not known, only that both were damaged beyond repair at Lechfeld Airfield and scrapped in 1944 or 45. It is known that V-3 flew very long range, secret reconnaissance missions to the East and the West while in Luftwaffe colors. The fate of V-3 is not known.

The chrome plating is in 'near mint' condition with only very slight and small flaws. This is called a 'short kit' because it does not include an interior, steering wheel, rubber tires or axles. These are from the original Jo-Han molds but are likely reproductions made in the 1990s. They came with a collection of promo bodies, windshields and chrome parts. Please note that these are made with a newer plastic that has very good gloss but does not warp. These are perfect replacements if you wish to restore your warped Plymouth Promo.
