Early issue of this famous kit with a high gloss box and classic artwork. Features all fine, recessed panel lines, detailed landing gear and enclosed gear wells, good intake and exhaust detail for the four jet engines, clear cockpit windows and a large, extensive decal sheet. Molded in white, black and clear plastic. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The box has a tear as shown, some masking tape and smaller side tear as well as a worn bottom box tray, hence the low box grade.

1968 hardbox issue from the original 1950s molds. And ideal builder. Includes electric motor for the propeller and the batteries are stored under the stand. For that time, this was a very good kit with fine panel and rivet detail. Features crew of two and seats, separately molded rudder and flap/ailerons, four small wing load bombs and a center bomb with 'swing arm' so that it would clear the prop in a dive. This kit has never been started. The motor is still in the internally sealed factory bag and all plastic parts have been inventoried 100% complete with decals and instructions. NOTE that the box displays better than 'good-' but is graded as such because on the right short side there is a 1.2" x 1.5" piece of box missing. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. Very rare and from the late 1950s. Very large (1/4 scale) and highly detailed model is by far the finest working visible aircraft engine ever made. Includes the electric motor, gear and battery boxes and all motorizing hardware. Transparent housings permit viewing the correctly working pistons, valves, rocker arms, connecting rods, cam and gears in action with synchronized firing of the spark plugs using red electric light bulbs. Propeller also changes pitch. It is molded in the correct clear, red, black, blue metallic and gray plastic. Inside, the kit has not been started. All cardboard inserts and lids are present and display very well as shown. The small hardware parts are still in the factory sealed envelopes. The plastic parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete, including the instructions (in near mint condition) and even the special booklet on 'The Aircraft Engine and How It Operates.' The outer box displays slightly better than the 'fair' grade; this is because it has seen significant wear and some clear tape as shown; it is also missing a section measuring 4.5" x 3.7" on the lower long side, and it had closed splits along the seams (corners and one side) and I correctly fixed those from the inside with card stock and book binding glue. It is amazing that this kit is complete - most of these models, even if still factory tape sealed, are missing parts due to poor packing procedures. This kit must be shipped insured.

Rare solid wood model from the 1940s. The scale is not given, but the wingspan is 5.25 inches. Features fuselage block, two sheets of very high quality printwood and full-size plans with templates. Never started and complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.
