Comet Cloud Buster - 21 inch Wingspan Flying Balsa Airplane Model, 4401-98

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$29

This is a 1970s kit. I can remember that when properly assembled, it flew very well - flights of a minute or more were common, and if you caught a thermal, you never saw your Cloud Buster again! Kit features traditional wood & tissue construction, detailed full size plans, building instructions, hardware, wheels and canopy material (if required), tissue, rubber and propeller. The model has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached its peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Comet Aeronca K Struct-O-Speed - 15 inch Wingspan Flying Aircraft, Q3-29

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$29

Early 1950s issue flying model in the 'Coca-Cola' bottle box. Comet 'Struct-O-Speed' was created to dramatically reduce building time and allow you to fly your model faster. It worked on both counts. All parts are die cut - you build a cabin aircraft, not a profile. There is no tissue covering. It comes with quality balso parts, factory formed wire landing gear and wheels, a plastic prop and thrust bearing, rubber motor and excellent instructions. Never started and 100% complete. Comet North American F-51 Mustang Struct-O-Speed - Coke Bottle Issue, G11-15

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$26

Dated 1950. Comet advertises that the Struct-O-Speed series 'Puts Itself Together...That Quick!' on the box top. These kits were very highly prefabricated for their time, and in comparison to the regular stick and tissue models, the claim is not unfounded. This is a small-scale, rubber powered free-flight kit with a wingspan of 8.5 inches. This is a 3D kit (not a profile model) of all die-cut balsa. It does not use any tissue covering as the wood is all external surfaces. Includes illustrated instructions and cut-out insignia. Complete and never started.
