Hawk De Havilland Comet IV BOAC with Interior - and Ground Support, 1/153, 507-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$150

Rare. Great hardbox kit from 1958 with interior and Bill Campbell artwork. The fuselage has a long flip-up panel to show full interior with all seats, bulkheads and even passengers. Also includes detailed landing gear, scale fuel truck, air conditioner truck and airport transport bus as well as full color BOAC decals and Mobilgas decals for the truck. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: box top would grade higher than 'Good+' but there is writing on the box top and one short side where a previous owner has crossed out the 'IV' and put 'III' in it's place.

Hawk Westland Lysander Chrome Plated, 1/48, 216-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$46

1968 Chrome plated version with John Andrews artwork. Very nicely detailed with full cockpit for pilot and observer, opening canopy, detailed engine and optional bomb load. The condition of the chrome is remarkable - I have rated it as 'NM' (near mint). The only wear is what little you would expect when it was shipped to the original hobby shop. All clear protection sleeves are still intact and the parts are separated for safe shipment. Never started. 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Hawk Republic F-84 Thunderjet - One-Piece Box Issue, 1/48, 701

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$75

Rare early first issue Hawk kit in the flip-top box from 1949. (Please see the article about early USA plastic kit development on this site.) The kit is molded in the correct light gloss gray with the early style stand and correct instructions. Please note that Hawk did not issue decals with this early first issue. The instructions make it clear how to paint the markings, which are raised on the moldings. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Hawk was a manufacturer of 1/48 constant scale solid wooden models back in the 1920s (well before plastic), but they jumped on the plastic band wagon very early. Most of the first issue 'flip box' plastic kits were 1/48, such as this kit.

Hawk Triangle Box F4D Skyray, 1/72, 402

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$185

Rare Triangle Box issue from the late 1950s. As a marketing experiment, Hawk tried this novel and colorful box only with the Skyray. Dealers found it difficult to stack with other kits and it was discontinued. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. This box is very good. Luckily, it is missing the factory tape seals that are usually across the top corners. There are no price tags and no other tape. The box has not been repaired. There is edge wear, some creasing and a short tear on the bottom but no litho or cardboard is missing.

Hawk Spad C-13 Picture Gallery, 1/48, 705-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$49

Hard-to-find kit from the mid 1950s. The 'Picture Galley' issues had a colorful but short life. When Hawk moved from wooden kits to injection molded kits, they utilized the one piece 'flip top' boxes with one or two color printing. Sales were initially poor. Realizing that more color was needed, they went to the 'hardbox' design, which was medium weight cardboard with a colorful litho 'slick' glued to it. The litho slick allowed more colors to be used, so Hawk sought out an artist who began painting Hawk's first hardbox artwork - the Picture Gallery. After a short period of time, however, the artist became ill- hence the short production run. Artist Bill Campbell was contracted to fill his shoes. Hawk was so happy that Bill was used from that point on with other artists as well. Molded in gloss dark green. Includes early correct decals and instructions showing slightly different part design that was utilized at this stage. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.

Hawk F-84F Thunderstreak Picture Gallery, 1/72, 606-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$48

Rare early issue hardbox Hawk kit. The rare 'Picture Gallery' series was Hawk's first move away from the thin one piece boxes and to full color artwork. The artist doing this early work fell sick and Hawk needed the artwork immediately - Bill Campbell was contacted and did box art for Hawk from that point on. Hawk was a manufacturer of 1/48 constant scale solid wooden models well before plastic, but they jumped on the plastic band wagon very early. The kit is molded in the correct glossy silver with the early style stand and correct instructions and decals. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Hawk Gloster Javelin Picture Gallery, 1/72, 502-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$64

Rare 1955 issue in the 'Picture Gallery' series. The dramatic scene shows Javelins intercepting IL-38 Bison bombers. This series was done before Bill Campbell started doing the artwork for Hawk. The current artist fell ill and Bill took over - hence the limited PG issues. Very nicely molded kit for the day. Decals are for WT946. The parts are the correct light silver glossy plastic with the interesting transparent light green stand, stand arm and canopy. Kit features full landing gear and 6 air to air missiles. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Even the remains of the Hawk glue capsule are present, including it's additional instructions for use.

Hawk Nieuport 17 - Flip-Top Box Issue, 1/48, 706

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

$39

First issue from the early 1950s in the one-piece box. Molded in high gloss yellow and black. The model has not been started. Complete with instructions and all parts. This kit is from early in this first issue, and the first kits were not issued with decals. In the 1920s through the 1940s Hawk made constant scale 1/48 aircraft kits from wood. In 1946 they added plastic injection molded kits to the line and were possibly the first injection molded kit manufacturer in the USA. When Hawk made an early jump to all-plastic kits they kept the 1/48 scale and created these new one-piece boxes with two color artwork.
