Minicraft 1804 Trevithick The World's First Steam Locomotive, 1/38, 11102

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$65

From ex-Entex molds. The world's first locomotive was the 1804 Trevithick. On February 13 of that year, Richard Trevithick's high pressure steam locomotive pulled five wagons carrying 10 tons of iron and 70 men on the Penydaren Tramroad from Methyr to Abercynon, Wales. The nine miles was covered in four hours and five minutes but much time was lost cutting down several trees and removing some large rocks. At times they reached the unheard of speed of five miles per hour! The performance won a 500 Pound wager for the train's owner, Mr. Samuel Homfrey and proved for once and for all that smooth steel wheels could obtain traction on a smooth iron rail. Until this day, conventional wisdom insisted that only geared wheels running on geared track would be able to pull any load up the slightest grade. The model is from 1996 but the molds pre-date that. Older but very nice kit that is well detail and molded in wood brown, medium gray and black. Includes display stand. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions.

Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Includes real sprung metal trucks. Roundhouse (by Model Die Casting) was a famous manufacture of HO Craftsman kits in the 1940s/1950s. This is one of their all- metal car kits. Varney Baggage Coach (Combine) Illinois Central Streamliner - Metal HO Kit, 1/87, S-13

$18

One of the most known names in early HO model railroading was Varney. This kit is from the unusual 1950s Varney streamlined passenger car line. The main car bodies are metal with lithographed color sides. The paint is in excellent condition and still has great gloss. The kit also includes ends, floor, bolsters, handrails, couplers and trucks. Never started and complete with instructions and all parts, most still sealed in small envelopes. These make great stand alone kit or as functional cars for your HO railway.

Athearn 40' AAR Steel Box Car Great Northern - HO Craftsman Kit with Sprung Metal Trucks, 1/87

Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$42

Very high quality wood and metal kit from the Golden Age of HO Craftsman kits. Builds a very accurate and highly detailed prototype. Of the early metal box car kits, these are my favorites. Their popularity is witnessed by the various reissues through the years. Almost all the parts that are metal on the actual box car are metal on the model. This and the factory paint, lettering and decoration makes these kits difficult to beat for scale appearance. Features stamped steel body that is factory painted, decorated and lettered, steel car ends, doors and roof, steel ladders, door guides and brake platform, cast metal roof walk, bolsters, coupler pockets and three piece brake detail, stamped metal undercarriage beam with fine cross bearers, corner steps, grab irons and more. Includes real sprung trucks. The factory paint is 'excellent' with only light storage wear and I have packed them in the original factory wax paper sleeve and put them inside the instructions so it will not be damaged in shipment. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in factory sealed envelopes and all other parts have been inventoried complete including instructions.
