William H Low Co Rumsey Service Hose Reel 1850 - Wilo Line Fire Trucks, 1/24, CR110

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Very rare. Has a box art variation from the other issue of CR110. Likely from the 1940s. William H Low Co., of Braintree Mass., issued the 'Wilo Line' which featured a superb series of antique commercial firefighting equipment, all in 1/48 scale. Bill Low was the designer of all kits and he was a superb model maker. The scale is given as 1/2" and the finished model wagon is approximately 7 inches long without the horse hitch and ~ 12 inches long with it. The kits were very advanced for the time and shared many of the pre-fabrication methods of Hudson Miniatures. Wilo Line kits features "all parts in this kit cut to size and shape." Includes plastic injection molded spoke wheels, precut and machined large and small wooden parts, beautiful, metal stock, a sealed bag of smaller parts including a great many more fully carved wood parts, metal parts and full size plans with numerous drawings and detailed text instructions. There is even a big photo of the actual prototype. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed small-parts bags with the non-sealed parts inventoried complete including instructions/plans. The kits in this line include Amoskeag Steamer, Hose Reel, Hose Wagon, Chemical Engine and many others. In most cases they are the only kits in existence of these historic vehicles. Bill Low did design at least one 'non-fire truck' kit in his Will-O-Line - a Conestoga Wagon, advertised as being 1/24 scale, kit #B14 for $2.85 list as "This is another Museum Piece by Bill Low." After seeing these fire truck kits, I do not doubt that.

Revell HMS Campbeltown (USS Buchanan) Destroyer, 1/240, 2502

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Advent issue. Large scale and highly detailed kit of the historic four-pipe destroyer. On March 8, 1942, the Campbeltown sailed up the Loire River. Her mission was to destroy the Normandie Drydock, a possible haven for the Tirpitz which was holed up on Norway at this time. The Campbeltown was disguised as a German warship and the bow was packed with 8500 lbs of high explosive depth charges. Under a RAF diversion, Campbeltown fought her way up the river and rammed the dock doors at full speed. Charges at the stern sank the back of the ship and she was wedged in the dock. During a German inspection 8 hours later, the charges went off, scattering parts of the ship up to one mile away. The dock was rendered useless to the Tirpitz, who now had to stay in Norway. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals, flagsheet and instructions.
