From the 1970s. Motorized kit includes metal gear box with nylon gears and running hardware. The Mabuchi RE-26 motor is present, in the original Mabuchi box. The kit is nicely detailed with 8 soldiers in the back, optional position rear hatches and commander figure. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions.

Monogram Sherman M4 Hedge Hog Tank with Hedgerow Cutter, 1/32, 4201

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$79

1975 issue. Very highly detailed kit featuring Normandy 'Cullin' hedge cutter and crew of two. Missing the diorama sheet. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Modified Shermans were required to cut through the thick hedgerows of Normandy which had previously proved almost impenetrable. This modification assisted greatly with the speed of the offensive in this region. Can be built with 'soft armor' as shown on the cover or as the standard welded-hull M4 without the Cullin and 'soft armor.'

Hobby DSRV-1 US Navy Rescue Submarine, 1/60, FI8

$149

Very rare. Excellent artwork shows the DSRV scurrying to a derelict US Nuclear sub (a SSBN I believe) with a sail dive plane snapped in two. Two divers anxiously tap on the hull with hammers while a 3rd diver is almost minced by the rescue sub. Big-scale kit measures about 10 inches long when built and is molded in yellow and medium gray. It is a (older) scale kit that can be built as a display but can also be operated in water with a rubber-band motor. The kit has never been started. All parts are inventoried 100% complete and the drive/motor hardware is still in the factory sealed bag. The original colorful 'Hobby' parts bag is included, and is specific to this model. Includes 'excellent' and fairly extensive decals and 'excellent++' instructions. Even includes the original small tube of glue.

Marusan Nautilus SSN571 Nuclear Submarine Commemorative Issue - (ex-Revell), 1/305

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$125

Very rare. This is a special issue by Marusan commemorating their very first kit - the Revell Nautilus. The contents are worthy of some detail. First, there is a 'Commemorative Booklet' which tells a fairly long story across many pages…but I do not know Japanese. The final page shows illustrations of the first Marusan adds to promote the Nautilus, as well as a Marusan catalog page and a Revell/Marusan catalog page. The actual kit contains a copy of the origina instruction sheet with "Marusan Plastic Model Kit" inside the Revell logo design, the older "SAN" logo and the special stand. The model parts are beautifully presented against white cardboard and factory sealed in clear bags. The special stand is included as well as the gold and black stand sticker. Complete and never started, with all paperwork and parts bags in mint condition.

ITC Halibut SSGN 587 Cam-A-Matic Submarine - (Electric Powered Diving Motorized Regulus Sub), 1/175, 3660-998

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$1599

From 1960. This model is the zenith of the ITC Design and Engineering Team, and maybe of all operational plastic model kits. It is not only rare but is considered the most complicated operating model ever produced. The large 24.75 inch submarine sails from the power of a large electric motor driving twin geared propellers. It changes headings, dives, surfaces, and a Regulus II missile comes out of the hanger and launches...all automatically. The engineering on this kit is fantastic and a major break-through for that time. The model worked, and did work well, but was certainly not a toy for inexperienced model builders. The high price ($9.98) and difficulties that youngsters had with assembly and operation made for a short production run. The fact the ITC left the model business for good shortly after releasing the kit contributed to the scarcity as well. The boxtop displays much better than the 'good' grade; I have graded it 'good' because the box has missing litho along the very bottom center, smaller missing areas on the corners and right side, general shelf wear and one closed split on two corners. I very carefully repaired the worse one correctly- from the inside with strips of cardstock and book binding glue. Inside, the kit is in excellent condition. It has never been started. All the parts have been inventoried 100% complete. The original bags are present but were open. The decals (stickers) are 'excellent' as are the instructions. The blue display cardboard is all present and in 'excellent' condition. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Aurora Japanese Sub I-19, 1/275, 728-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Mint

$89

The original owner carefully cut around the factory seal and left it on the box top, thus creating a rare 'mint' condition, investment grade box. The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread off Guadalcanal. On September 14, 1942, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank and the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl till November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. 1969 issue in the 'Big A' hardbox. Large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled. This is an excellent model from Aurora's efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that most of their kits were outclassed, so in the mid and late 1960s they cut a new molds with much better detail - the I-19 was one of those. Includes extra-large display stand, regular display stand, decals, flag sheet, periscope and cranes, detailed Glen Seaplane, conning tower and deck guns. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.
