Anigrand Hiller X-18 V/STOL, 1/72, AA-2011

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$52

Very highly detailed, high-definition cast resin kit of this unique aircraft. The parts are still in the internally sealed bags. Includes decals and instructions. During early 1955, Hiller Aircraft designed a large, tilt-wing VTOL aircraft as an in-house study. In 1956, U.S. Air Force showed interest in this concept and assigned a contract to Hiller for the development of a VTOL cargo transport. The test bed was designated X-18. In order to speed the construction process and to conserve available Air Force funding, the X-18 was built from many existing materials, such as the fuselage from Chase C-122, the turboprop engines from the XFV-1 and XFY-1 and miscellaneous parts from the R3Y. The prototype was completed and started to proceed with ground testing in 1958. A year later, it made first flight without any difficulty. After a total of 20 flights were completed, the Air Force ended its flight-testing and set the X-18 aside for ground tests to develop a database for the upcoming XC-142 transport project. In 1964, the X-18 was disassembled for scrap.

Aurora 12 O'Clock High Focke-Wulf 190 - (FW190), 1/48, 344-79

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$159

Very Rare limited issue hardbox dated 1965. Issued as a promotion with the famous TV show "12 O'Clock High," which centered on the exploits of USAAF B-17s flying over Hitler's Germany. Molded in black and clear plastic, with the clear triangle-based stand. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please note that the decals are in amazing 'excellent++' condition. They are almost fully flat and have almost no age yellowing. Instructions are 'excellent' and have very light wear and the typical age yellowing. The instructions are in remarkable 'near mint' condition. Amazingly, the decal sheet has swastikas. This is unusual because they were removed from the decal artwork may years before this. Other kits in this rare series include the B-17 Bomber Formation (3 kits with a special 'bombing' stand and battle-damaged decals), P-38 Lighting, ME-109 (Bf-109), P-51, B-26, B-25 and Fw-190.

Adams Chuck Wagon - (ex Miniature Masterpiece), 1/48, K235-88

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$85

Very rare 1958 issue. This highly detailed model includes wagon with detailed chassis & hitch, dinner bell, stew pot, coffee pot & lantern, two life-like cowhands, one sitting cowboy calf, dog, two horses, display base and more. The kit has never been started. Inventoried with all parts present, Adams "Circle A Ranch" decals in 'near mint' condition and photocopied instructions. NOTE: the instructions are high-quality, full size photocopies from the Revell kit. The original instructions are missing. This kit has an interesting history. 'Miniature Masterpieces' was formed through an alliance of Lew Glaser (Revell) and Steve Adams (Adams Action Models) in 1953. Although the molds were made at Adams and it had the appearance of an independent company, the firm was run by Revell down to the prototypes being made at the Revell plant. Originally there was no evidence of the parent company on the surface. The State Coach of England was the first kit, issued in 1953. More kits of excellent quality followed. Revell completely took over the line in 1954 and in that year and the next, kits were labeled 'Revell' with a 'Miniature Masterpiece' label on the box top also. However, Adams broke the relationship with Revell in the later 1950s and began making kits under the Adams name with the original molds.

Revell North American X-15 - 'S' Issue, 1/65, H198-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$155

First issue from 1958. From the stunning artwork on this kit, it is clear to see why these models are considered the pinnacle of box art and why they are so collectible today. This is a finely molded and well detailed kit for that time and features removable canopy and detailed engine, pilot figure, landing gear and retractable landing skid, movable control surfaces & dive brakes and more. Includes Revell's famous round-based 'Globe' swivel stand, a separate, full size color and marking sheet with four views; there is even an excellent history of the aircraft. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The box displays better than the rating, but that is because there is some minor litho chipping and moderate edge wear, especially on the left side corners.

Sanwa Boeing B-17E Fortress Bomber, 1/145, 136

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$145

Very, Very Rare. Early, colorful issue from the late 1950s. The kit is dated by the 'Sanwa Plastic' logo, which was normally used in the late 1950s up to 1960. Very nicely detailed for that time with fine (and sparse, not overdone) surface detail, opening bomb bay doors, working ailerons, elevators and rudder, rotating propellers and full landing gear. Molded in gloss dark green, black and clear. Includes factory glue tube. Inside, the model is factory new - all the parts and decals are still in the factory sealed clear bags. The decals are flat and in amazing 'near mint+' condition and the instructions in 'near mint' condition. Sanwa was one of Japan's earliest post-WWII kit producers, making model kits in the 1950s; some sources say 1955. Kits were marketed under Sanwa and Tokyo Plamo, with the general consensus being the the later logo came out around 1960 or later. Production ended in 1964, making all Sanwa kits rare and collectible. The entire line was extensive. It included very small scale tanks (some that were motorized), battleships in three scales with the larger ones motorized with dual prop drive, slot cars, civil sport boats and an electric outboard, a full line of hand gun models that actually shot plastic bullets, two fighter groups and bomber groups (probably Monogram), several different lines of scale aircraft, missile kits, scale (static) car models of early Japanese automobiles, at least 7 flying model aircraft that had electric and rubber motors, a 'Super Control Stand' P-51 that moved with a joystick and had an electric propeller and sound unit, two different lighthouses and a windmill, an air cushion boat, motor cycles, a diving submarine (electric) and a working (rubber band) George Washington Class SSBN and even a garden tractor with an electric motor. Just before going out of business, Sanwa issued some kits in conjunction with the 1964 Tokyo Olympic games - these kits even included a copy of an Olympic medal.
