Airfix Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2B - RAF 208 Sq Lossiemouth 1988 or 12th Sq Lossiemouth 1985, 1/72, 03055

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$22

From 1992 and has 78 parts. Features very fine raised panel lines, 'good' cockpit detail, optional drop tanks, Radar Martel, T.V. Martel and Sea Eagle missiles, two piece canopy and extensive paint guide and excellent decals for the two aircraft listed. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The Buccaneer was the world's first purpose designed low level 'below the radar' bomber. Low level strike aircraft have a shorter airframe life limit due to the stresses of low level flying, so the Buccaneer was designed to be very strong and even had many sub-assemblies milled from solid metal.

Airfix Fairey Rotodyne, 1/72, 482

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$49

1960s 'Type Three' logo issue. Very nicely detailed and molded kit. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Rotodyne first flew in 1957. The purpose was to create the first true vertical take-off airliner that could operate from an area no larger than two tennis courts with a full load. The Rotodyne flew at up to 191 MPH with a range of 450 miles and a payload of 48 passengers or 5 tons of freight. Despite the excellent performance and a larger design in the works, the RAF never placed an order and BEA never placed a firm order. The project was discontinued in 1962.

Revell USS Missouri Narrow Box - First Issue Pre 'S' Kit, 1/535, H301-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

$115

First release 1953 hardbox pre 'S' kit. This is the first ship that Revell cut the molds for. Earlier Revell ship releases were Ex-Gowland and Gowland molds for the small scale sailing ship series. Although the box is graded VG (very good), it has excellent color and little wear. Inside the kit is 100% correct. The plastic is the high gloss medium gray. All small parts are still sealed in the factory cello bag and the original flag sheet is included. The instructions are the correct 'large' release for the first issue. Never started. 100% inventoried complete with all parts and instructions present.

Gowland & Gowland Santa Maria Shipyard Ships in Miniature

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$26

Rare, early, small scale ship kit from 1952. Very nicely detailed and molded, especially for that era. Includes sails, molded sea display base and clear sheet plastic with the delicately printed ratlines. The scale is not given, but the sea base measures 6.5"x2" and the ship is approximately 5 inches long. Includes beautiful color instructions with the ship history, illustrations of assembly, how to set the sails and photos for rigging. This kit has never been started and is still in the original 'krinkle' bag. The bag has typical splitting, so it has been placed inside a zip-lock bag so that no parts will be lost. Includes instructions. The box sides illustrates and names the 10 kits of this line. All were available in regular (such as this kit) or 'Ship In A Bottle' versions. the 'Bottle' was also available separately. The entire set consists of the Santa Maria 1492, Golden Hind 1588, Mayflower 1620, Bon Homme Richard 1779, SS Savannah 1819, The Flying Cloud 1849, Charles W. Morgan 1850, Gertrude L. Thebaud 1929, Frigate Constitution 1797 and US Revenue cutter 1849. It appears that Gowland & Gowland has not received the credit that it deserves in the plastic kit revolution that took America by storm in the early 1950s. Gowland developed the first all plastic car made in the USA in 1950, the 1911 Maxwell. Even more interesting is that Kevin and Jack Gowland developed the 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951 which heralded the future for the American Hobby Industry. The reason that Gowland's name is not in the fore-front of model history is that Precision Specialties (later Revell) did the distribution for Gowland.
