Unknown Junkers Ju-52 Tante Ju Transport, 1/32

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Very high quality vac kit with metal details. Molding detail is of higher quality than many injection molded kits. Can be built civil or military, wheeled version only. Features optional wheel pants, cockpit interior with floor, seats, instrument panel, center engine/instrument console, rudder pedals and metal details, superb vacuform main parts, numerous cast metal details including full engines, props, exhaust, tail wheel strut, main gear struts and more, optional fuselage-top machine gun assembly that is a full kit by itself with cast metal parts and numerous photoetched brass parts, clear vac canopies and blister (still in excellent shape and not yellowed) and full size, detailed plans with detailed assembly drawings & full instructions (in German). You can translate them to English by typing them into Google Translate online. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and plans. Unless you specify otherwise, this kit will ship in the sturdy original shipping box. The manufacturer is unknown, but the kit was made in Germany. It may have been made by Hobbymodellbau F. Schmidt Mufferstadt Germany. I say this because their name is on the Ju-52 upper gun mounting mini-kit.

Midwest Wally Simmers' Sniffer - 29 inch Wingspan Contest or Sport Free flight Model Airplane, FG1

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Built for 'Sniffing Thermals', the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and early gas powered models, all powered by Brown engines, took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all without any operator inputs once the airplane took off. Getting the wing up out of the propeller airflow was a huge improvement, and this type of design proliferated. This is one example of a parasol (with a clever cabin) style 1940s free-flight competition aircraft designed by Wally Simmers. Quality kit includes printwood, strip wood, wheels, tissue and beautiful full size plans. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Comet Aeronca Sedan Struct-O-Speed Deluxe Issue, 2301

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Deluxe version; please read carefully. 1960s issue with a 13.25 inch wingspan. Comet would advertise that the Struct-O-Speed series 'Puts Itself Together...That Quick!' on the box top, and it was not a completely idle boast. This exactly model is highly prefabricated and more along the lines of a Speedee-Bilt than a Comet kit. Features a completely machine formed and finished wing with airfoil (like the Monofoil wing), other factory carved parts, die-cut and factory painted balsa sheet parts, a beautiful scale plastic full cowl, plastic prop and thrust bushing, fully formed wire landing gear and prop shaft/rubber hook, finished wheels, rubber motor, complete plans with instructions and even color insignia. Never started and complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Frog HS Buccaneer S.Mk 2A / S.Mk 50 - RAF No. 12 Sq Honington 1970 or South African SAAF No. 24 Sq Waterkloof 1970, 1/72, F238

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Typical high quality Frog kit with no rivets and fine panel lines for a realistic model. Features steering nose strut, four anti-ship missiles on wing pylons and optional position landing gear. Has decals for both Air Forces. Kit features opening unique rotating bomb bay, folding wings and working arresting hook. Never started. NOTE: missing display stand. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions. The Buccaneer was the world's first purpose designed low level 'below the radar' bomber. Low level strike aircraft have a shorter airframe life limit due to the stresses of low level flying, so the Buccaneer was designed to be very strong and even had many sub-assemblies milled from solid metal.

Airfix Boeing 314 Pan Am Clipper - 'Dixie' or BOAC 'Berwick', 1/144, 04172

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG-

Dated 1988 and originally from the 1970s. Very finely molded and detailed kit for that time with 76 parts. Has decals for both aircraft. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: two prop blades are cleanly broken off at the hub - the blades are present so it can be repaired. One prop is a slightly darker plastic than the others - it is from the original issue of this same kit. In the 1930s Pan Am was a household word in the USA for their romantic foreign routes and the glamorous 'China Clippers' that crossed the Pacific Ocean, stopping at such ports as Wake Island. Pan Am's attention soon turned to the Atlantic. Since non-stop service would be needed, a new aircraft was designed. The Boeing 314 was chosen. This huge flying boat started flying the Atlantic mail in 1939 with a trip over 26 hours long. Before the war, the 314 fleet flew the Pacific, Atlantic and other routes. The airliner was a palace compared to the cramped jets and limited service of today. The flight deck compared to the bridge of a ship and housed 6 crew. It was connected to the passenger cabin by a spiral staircase. The luxurious cabins were divided into 5 standard compartments, each seating 10 passengers, a dining salon for 14, a special compartment for four and a deluxe bridal suite. 74 could be carried on day trips and 40 when sleeping quarters for all passengers was required. Chefs prepared gourmet meals while passengers lounged in deeply cushioned wicker chairs and enjoyed a grand view of the scenery from about 5,000 feet. The age of the Clippers ended shortly after WWII when land planes could operate at much higher speeds than the flying boats.

The Royal Navy aircraft were called Kingfisher I and 100 of them were delivered with both wheel and float gear. The US Navy aircraft is that of Lieutenant William F. Eadie from a Kingfisher squadron based in the Ellice Islands. He spotted and rescued Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker and his companions after they had been on a raft in the Pacific for 21 days and virtually given up for lost. Lt. Eadie moved the most injured into the radio compartment while Rickenbacker and the other crew member were lashed to the wings. Eadie figured that the aircraft could not fly, and luckily he met a PT boat and transfered the uninjured men to it.
