Hard-to-find Renwal first issue of this very desirable kit. Not the common modern reissue. The box top says 'Fully Operating Model Does Everything But Fire' and it is true. It consists of over 300 parts and has many action features typical of Renwal models. The wheels roll, tractors can be hooked to the cannon, which can be stowed in the 'travel' position. The gun can move into the 'fire' position off the tractors and can be trained realistically. It is molded in olive drab plastic. The kit has never been started. The parts that were originally in factory sealed bags are still sealed. The parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions present. The box displays better than the 'good' grade; however I graded it as such because in addition to the general wear shown, the upper long side panel has light staining and a tape tear that is 2.25" x .5".

This is the unusual Revell of Germany RAF issue from 1988. The unique box art shows the Catalina that discovered the Bismarck, complete with the German Battlewagon below. When the RAF Catalina discovered the Bismarck, the co-pilot was an American officer, Ensign Leonard Smith. He was one of only 17 pilots loaned to the RAF to help them gain experience with the Catalina. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

An investment-grade example of the last "S" kit issued by Revell. The hardbox is dated 1959 and has perfect gloss and color. This box even missed the factory sealing tape, so there is no tape or tape marks. All four corners are solid and there is no fading, stains, creases, rips, tears or missing litho and no repairs. The only flaws are a tiny bit of corner & edge wear and two small and shawllow 'depressions' on the box top. They cannot be seen in the photos; you have to hold the box at just the right angle to see them. This model features opening tandem canopies, moving control surfaces, detailed, removable jet engines and two pilots. As the last "S" kit, this kit also incorporated a critical improvement for the time that would become standard by the 1990s: all recessed detail. The entire kit has recessed panel lines and rivet detail-no raised marks. It has an attention to detail that is lacking in many older Pre-S and S kits. Molded in the correct gloss light gray & clear with the clear Revell "Globe" Swivel Stand. Never started. All parts have been inventoried 100% complete. Includes decals and instructions in 'excellent+++' condition with very slight yellowing as the only flaw.

Highly detailed resin kit with fine recessed panel lines, full decals, instructions and paint guide. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. In 1957, the U.S. Navy began to plan a new concept for airborne fleet defense. A large subsonic interceptor with a powerful radar was to be equipped with very long range high speed air-to-air missiles to shoot down approaching Soviet strike aircrafts and bombers. In 1958, Bendix and Grumman were selected as contractors for the AAM-N-10 Eagle missile. A year later the Douglas XF6D-1 Missileer design was chosen for the launch platform with an order for two prototypes. The most important feature of the XF6D-1 was its Westinghouse AN/APQ-81 pulse-doppler radar, the first track-while-scan radar developed for a fighter aircraft. In 1960, the Navy development organizations became convinced that the XF6D-1 was too expensive, and changed in favor of exploring the feasibility of using the F-111B. The Eagle missile program faltered as well. The XF6D-1 and Eagle missiles were both put on hold in December of 1960, before any XAAM-N-10 prototypes could be tested. However, the idea of a long-range fleet-defense interceptor was realized later with the F-14 Tomcat and the AAM-N-11/AIM-54 Phoenix missile.
