Lindberg Amphibious Duck - Cellovision Issue, 1/76, 757

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc

$145

Still factory sealed and a very rare kit from the late 1950s that has fantastic Ray Gaedke artwork of a beach landing scene. For some reason this kit almost never shows up and was issued only once or twice. Why is did not stay in the lineup is a mystery; perhaps the molds were damaged beyond repair. The model is large scale and well detailed for that time. The Cellovision box is in 'excellent' condition which is most unusual. These are thin and frail boxes which are easily damaged. This one has like-new color and gloss, no crushing or creasing, an intact plastic window still securely glued into place and all short end flaps in place and factory glued shut. The trading card on the back is in very good condition as well. Flaws include light age spotting, light general wear and a very small 1/2" x 3/8" litho tear on the back near the right short side.

Sterling Mister Mulligan - 32 Inch Wingspan Scale Model For Control Line - (Howard DGA-6), 1/6, C3

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$125

Late 1950s or early 1960s issue of this beautiful 1/11.6 scale kit. Sterling's authentic reproduction based on the plans and photos of the actual aircraft. The kit is very well engineered and features the finest grade and density-selected balsa wood, sanded to micrometer tolerance and precision die-cut, quality die-cut quality plywood for high stress areas, factory-cut stringers and spars, other wood stock as required, large aluminum colwing, factory-sealed hardware kit, fully leading and training wing edges, covering material, formed spring steel main landing gear struts, clear windshield and window material, a very large & authentic decal sheet and easy to read step-by-step plans & instructions. Never started. All of the small parts are still sealed in the factory clear bags. The parts that were never sealed have been inventoried complete and includes all paperwork. The Howard DGA-6 was a pioneer racing plane, nicknamed 'Mister Mulligan.' It was the only airplane ever designed for the specific purpose of winning the Bendix Trophy. The plane was designed and developed by Ben Howard and Gordon Israel, who later became an engineer for the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation. Mister Mulligan was designed to fly the entire length of the race nonstop and at high altitude. Neither had ever been done before. Mister Mulligan won the trophy, and thus changed the way in which long distance airplanes were designed. Sterling, the manufacturer of this kit, was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Novo De Havilland Comet 4 - Jet Airliner - BOAC - (ex Frog), 1/96, F356

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$44

Rare kit in large scale of the world's first jet airliner. The initial Comet Is were in operation long before the 707, which gave the British an incredible post-war lead in the expanding civil aviation market. Just as the Comet was flying high and orders were pouring in from around the world, Comets began to mysteriously fall out of the sky. Everything from lighting to terrorist bombs were blamed. For months the root cause went undiscovered. Then, in a landmark investigation that is considered the first modern post-crash autopsy, it was discovered that the stresses around a small ADF window on the top of the fuselage were causing metal fatigue failure when the fuselage was pressurized. To confirm this, a Comet I was placed in a water tank and subjected to pressurization stresses. After some time, a dramatic failure occured. Then parts of a crashed Comet were pulled from underwater proving once and for all that this was the root cause. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Monogram Curtiss P-36A - Bagged, 1/72, PA145

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$20

This kit came from the collection of one of Monogram's finest and talented designers, the man who created the original B-52 kit, B-17, B-24J, at least one if not all of the 1/8 scale Ford cars, A-1E Skyraider and numerous other famous kits. First issue from 1967 is very finely molded and famous for it's perfect fit, finish and scale fidelity. It has never been started. The model is inventoried with all parts and photocopied instruction present. NOTE: missing decals and the instructions are high-quality photocopies. The Hawk P-36A has the dubious distinction of fighting on both sides and for more countries than any other plane in history during the opening years of WWII. This Hawk, one in a long progression of famous fighter aircraft, was the winner of a 1935 competition. The USAA Corps received the first aircraft in April of 1938 and the French ordered 100 aircraft in May of the same year. French Hawks shot down just over 30 German planes during the battle for France. The Germans captured the aircraft and sold them to Finland. Others were captured when the Germans overran Norway. In all over 800 Hawks were produced and served in China, Netherlands East Indies, Portugal, Great Britain, Thailand, Argentina and Peru. Although an excellent fighter in 1935, the Hawk was outclassed by the time the war started but when flown properly still gave a good account of itself.

Renwal Nike Ajax Anti-Aircraft Guided Missile - MIM-3 With Launcher and Crew, 1/32, 550

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$135

Fantastic kit from the 1950s in an 'excellent' condition box. The classic artwork shows the Nike Ajax blowing up what appears to be a B-17 over an American city. Judging from the fiery blast from the launching Ajax in the background, these two ground crew may not make it away from this missile in time. This is an excellent model for that time that still rates well today. It features detailed missile with separating states, operating control surfaces, operating launcher and more. The launcher is designed to connect other models to form an entire Nike Ajax Battery for the ultimate diorama. Molded in olive drab and white. The model has never been started. The white plastic parts and decals are still factory sealed; the olive drab parts were never sealed and have been inventoried complete and includes decals and instructions.

Revell Yak-25 Flashlight Soviet All-Weather Interceptor 'S' Issue, 1/50, H296-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$155

Rare 1958 first issue with the box art that made these kits so famous and collectible. This one is in 'excellent++' condition with perfect gloss and color, four solid corners, no repairs, no tags or tag marks, no tape or tape marks (except the factory sealing tape of course), no fading, creases or stains and no torn or missing litho. Flaws include light edge wear and corner wear as shown. Large-scale kit is very well molded for that time and features fine surface detail, moving flaps, ailerons, elevators and rudder and features a full crew. Never started. It has been inventoried 100% complete. Decals and instructions are both in incredible 'Near Mint+' condition. Please NOTE that the vertical stabilizer tips on this kit were incredibly thin and fragile and often the tips (about 3 to 4mm) would break off in shipping. This kit is no exception, but both tips are present and fit back perfectly.

Topping Martin SM-68 Titan ICBM - Factory Model, 1/68

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

No restoration has been done and there are no flaws. The original base in in the same condition. The rocket separates into 'stages' as the actual missile did. Titan I was the first USA multi-stage Intercontinental Ballistic Missile. Designed in 1955, it was originally a back-up for the Atlas program. Titan was larger than Atlas and was also seen as an early space launch vehicle. Titan was stored in hardened underground silos. The arrival of solid fuel Titan II and Minuteman I missiles in 1963 made Titan I obsolete. The follow-on, Titan II became a major workhorse in the space program and served well as a heavy lift ICBM.
