Large 17 inch long model has excellent detail and a large clear section to show interior detail. 14 movable parts allow you to display or change the ship from Launch Configuration through the Earth's Atmosphere to Space Cruise Configuration. Also contains complete 'technical' flight data and a report on the Nerva Nuclear Engine. Never started. Parts are still in factory sealed bags. Still contains iron-on mission patches. Monogram E-Power Electronic Power Module (Superstar Free Flight Aircraft), 7593

The "E-Power Module" was derived from the historic and famous "Superstar" electric free-flight aircraft. In it's own way, the Superstar was the forerunner of today's electric Radio Controlled revolution that has bought RC to thousands of people. It all began in about 1971when Mattel introduced the Superstar "The Plane With A Brain". The Superstar was not the first electric powered larger-scale free-flight aircraft, but it was perhaps the first mass-marketed electric ni-cad powered model. Unlike the Mattel "Dareplane" tethered flier which was discontinued shortly after introduction, the Superstar generally worked well for young children who had parental supervision. Made of foam and colorful vacuformed plastic, the Superstar contained an electric motor, two small ni-cad batteries (from Sizzler electric racers), and a "brain". The "brain" was a motor driven cam to which the youngster could attach different cams. When the prop turned, the cam would rotate and engage a wire which moved the rudder. In this way, the Superstar could fly figure 8s, circles, squares or go straight. The system worked very well. When the Superstar would become trapped in a thermal, the prop would continue to turn, causing the aircraft to perform the proper maneuver again and again, until it had gradually flow too high to be seen! In 1975, the Mattel/Monogram combination decided to market a slightly modified version (no cam drive and a shorter drive shaft) of the Superstar powerplant as this E-Power Module. From the back of the box - "The Monogram E-Power module is a self-contained electric power unit with a high torque motor, 3.27:1 gear ratio and two GE nickel cadmium rechargeable batteries. It is ready to mount in any suitable airframe...The module weighs 70 grams (2.47 oz) and is comparable in power to a .020 gas engine. Flying model kits with a wing area of 100 to 150 square inches and a weight of 100 to 200 grams (3.5 to 7 oz) are adaptable to the E-Power...the propeller has a diameter of 7.25" and a high efficiency 4.3" pitch. Full specifications and instructions for mounting are included. It has never been used. This E-Power comes in a box that is still factory sealed. It includes a "Superstar" prop, the complete power module with motor, gearbox and batteries, and instructions.

Very rare. In the 1950s, the US Navy began a program called the "Fleet Ballistic Missile". Since missiles of the day had short range, it made sense to sail Navy ship within range and fire missiles from then. Nothing had ever been done like this before, so a special research ship was converted from a "Mariner" class cargo vessel. The USS Compass Island was the US Navy's experimental forerunner of ballistic missile-launching vessels. She was commissioned at the New York naval Shipyard on December 3, 1956. Displacing 17,000 tons, the Compass Island was designed to assist in the development of SINS, or the Ship Inertial Navigational System. Missiles can only hit targets if they know exactly where they were launched from. This early system was a distant relative of GPS, the Global Positioning System. The ship carried the usual crew in addition to many scientists. She was equipped with Regulus I missiles for testing as well as many other instruments from research on navigation done at the Instrumentation Laboratory and MIT. The Compass Island was also equipped with the Sperry Gyroscope Company's new Gyrofin Ship Stabilizer. These are included in the model and move as the real ones did to keep the Compass Island from rolling. Each fin provided 3,000 foot-tons of lift and reduced this motion by 90%. This kit is highly detailed, very finely molded and includes the Regulus I missiles and launcher. The kit has not been started and has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. NOTE: Although the kit is complete, there are several broken parts. Here is the list: small anti-aircraft guns - several broken barrels and broken base on one (all included). 2 Kingpost/Booms and Crane - broken booms (included). Lifeboat cabins - broken but all parts included. Helicopter - 1 main rotor broken and tail rotor (all parts included). Hull - chip at bow and stern (see photo). The parts are included for the hull, but there are many chips. It would be easier to simply putty the chips in.

Japan issue hardbox with unique boxart. Has decals and paint guide for "Blue Streak" or a very colorful "Formation Ship" painted in a checker-board pattern. When B-24s would reach the end of the road but were still airworthy, they would be painted in very colorful schemes. These special Formation Ships would take off first, and groups would form up on their Formation Ship before departing on a mission. Has many action features: landing gear retracts and extends, control surfaces move, guns elevate and turrets rotate, wheels and props spin, flaps extend/retract, and has optional position side gunner's position (open or closed). NOTE: This kit has not been started and includes decals and and instructions. But it is missing parts. Missing: #20 Nose wheel well half, (1) #50 Propeller retainer, (2) #48 propellers and (2) #77 small nose antennas. Inventoried with all other parts.

Very early release from 1953 in the one-piece box. Revell soon learned that this box was inadequate for plastic models, so it is remarkable that this box is almost perfect. Flawless color and shape with no repairs. Very light edge wear is the only flaw. This early kit has no landing gear or rivet detail, as is correct for the first issues. The decals are the correct early version from "The Colortone Co." and the instructions are printed on the back of the box. These kits normally came with a two piece stand (as shown in the instructions) molded in the same color as the aircraft. This kit does not! It comes with a clear 'globe' base with the rare first edition one-piece arm (instead of the common 3 piece version). But most interesting is the two-piece clear ball socket. I have never seen a Revell kit issued with a two-piece ball socket, let alone a clear one. It is obviously a factory piece and fits perfectly into the fuselage and stand arm. My assumption was that it was a very early prototype 'Globe' stand, as it did not see production in Pre-S or S kits without significant modification. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Ex-Comet molds. 1963 hard box issue. Comet (and Aurora) issued this kit in two sizes; this is the smaller of the two scales. NOTE: Kit is 100% complete but has assembly. Fuselage is assembled. Engine nacelles and props have been assembled. Some decals have been applied. Quality of work is very good. Ideal builder. The Aero Commander was a state-of-the-art twin engine light transport in the early 1960s. It was built by Aero Design and Engineering Co. of Bethany, Oklahoma. It was the first twin engine aircraft to be used the the President of the United States and was in Presidential service in the early 1960s. This high performance 5 to 7 place was popular with business travelers and had a range of 1,050 miles and a ceiling of 22,000 feet. The Aero Commander led to the Jet Commander, which became the IAI 1121 through 1124 Westwind Business Jet. Aero Commanders can still be seen at some airports in excellent condition, but many are neglected as newer aircraft are in favor.
