Revell Westinghouse Atomic Power Plant with Full Interior - 'S' Kit, 1/192, H1550-695

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

Sold

In 1959 Revell issued this incredibly detailed 'educational' kit of a standard Westinghouse Nuclear Plant. It was reissued once in 1960 and it has never been reissued. It is a very complicated kit with hundreds of parts and the full interior to the power plant. The parts were molded in five colors to minimize painting. The kit contains all the items shown on the box top within the road boundary including a display mat with grass and roads, clear nuclear reactor vessel, separating reactor dome for full view of interior, movable gantry with operational hoist, working reactor hoist, circulating pumps, steam generator, turbine, electrical substation, high tension tower and separate power lines, service truck, crew, sign, border fence and much more. Includes the book "A New World of Atomic Power" by Dr. William E Shoupp at Westinghouse. The box top is solid and in very good condition. There is general wear and light stains as shown in the photo. Overall it is very presentable, with all four sides being in as good or better condition as the top. This kit has never been started. It is either still in the internally sealed factory bag or has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Late 1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. Aurora US Army 155mm 'Long Tom' Artillery Cannon, 1/48, 308

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG++

Sold

Very rare factory sealed kit for the advanced Aurora collector. The model came from the first owner of the kit who bought it new. In those days, Aurora sealed kits with two very thin strips of tape on the box top sides extending to the bottom of the box. This box still has those two tape seals intact. The box condition is very good with like new color and gloss and no price tags. The top of the box grades much higher than 'VG', but one long side has wear, which brought down the box grade. This is the first issue of this classic kit. Note the oval sunburst logo with 'Famous Fighters' in the boarder. Dates from about 1957/59. Well detailed for it's time with 96 parts. Has many action features including movable wheels, breech, recoil mechanism, limber and gun trails.

Hudson Miniatures 1913 Mercer Raceabout Lil' Old Timers 'Quickie Kit', 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

Rare. When the Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' burst upon the hobby scene in 1951, they started a hobby revolution. Plastic model kits were not new in 1951, but successful mass marketing of plastic kits was new. The sensation swept the country, and Gowland & Revell could not make the kits fast enough. The fact that the public was buying these models shocked the successful hobby establishment. One such manufacture was Hudson Miniatures. In the 1940s, Hudson had established a name in making 1/16 scale 'Old Timer' models of automobiles. These were excellent kits with wood and metal parts, but a high degree of skill was required to carve and finish the wood parts. In the late 1940s, they added some injection molded plastic parts (usually acetate wheels) to the series but did not consider a completely plastic kit. When Hudson saw what was happening with the Highway Pioneers, he began to design his own 1/32 scale line called 'Lil Old Timers', which hit the stores in 1954. An early paper fold-out catalog shows 18 models including some real gems like the 1910 International Harvester Passenger Car, 1911 Brush Delivery Truck and 1906 Columbia Electric Car just to name a few. The line was bought by Revell a short time after it's release, and Revell did reissue some (but not all) of the kits. As you would expect from Hudson, this is a nice kit with excellent moldings and detail for the time. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

1968 reissue of the Helios kit from 1959. Rare 'near future' space model of a proposed nuclear powered lunar landing craft from 1959. The model was designed by Krafft A. Ehricke of Convair Astronautics Division, who also designed the Revell Space Shuttlecraft and some of the famous Strombecker Space kits. All phases of the flight can be recreated with the model; twisting the nose cone actually lowers the landing gear and power cables. Includes retractable landing gear, movable control surfaces, removable control capsule on first stage, gondola power cables that reel in and out, detailed living quarters with removable viewing panel, launch platform and 5 crew. Correctly molded in three colors: silver, dark blue and white. Never started. Missing one crew member. Otherwise 100% inventoried complete with all other parts/decals and instructions present.
