The F-86 Sabre was manufactured in Australia for specific RAAF needs. The largest change was the installation of the Rolls-Royce Mk26 Avon turbojet which had more thrust than the US engine. This in turn required a larger intake. Two Aden cannons were fitted, one to each side. The first flight was in 1953 and a total of 113 were built. They had a long service life and served overseas as well as in combat in Malaysia. When the service life ended in 1971, the aircraft were mothballed. However, the Australian Government gave 16 to Indonesia as a gift in 1973. Very nicely molded conversion uses the Fujimi F-86 as a base kit. Includes very colorful decals for one Indonesian unit. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The parts that were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals and instructions.

Very rare. NOTE: builder kit only. Normally I don't buy kits in this condition, but Ideal made the only model ever available of this ship and this is the largest scale. Dated 1950 and measures 18 inches long when built. Wooden kit with pre-shaped hull and printwood parts, as well as highly detailed three-view plans with hull cross sections, numerous superb detail drawings, very good instructions with additional building illustrations, full rigging diagram and sail details. Certainly one of Ideal's better kits. NOTE: this kit has minor, neat assembly. The three main decks, stem and keel have been glued to the hull, and the hull has been fully sanded and shaped. Quality of all work is 'excellent+.' Please NOTE that you receive the following parts with this kit: hull with assembly as noted, two sheets of never cut printwood, one partial sheet of printwood, never used cardstock sheet of printed walls and rails, large color flag sheet and excellent plans. All wood parts are present except for the rudder and support, foremast base and supports and funnel base. These parts are shown full size on the instructions so they are easy to make. Please note that is all that is included. There is no generic wood stock, wood dowels, or fittings, but these are easily found on line.

Still factory sealed. Very nicely molded kit featuring optional parts for B or E variants, all fine recessed panel lines, good cockpit and gear well detail, full landing gear, wing drop tanks and decals for two different aircraft. The B-47 was a very advanced aircraft at the time. The XB-47 first flew in 1947. The big jet's speed was equal to or greater than all current fighter aircraft, so it received radar-controlled twin 20mm cannons in the tail as the only guns. Through the use mid-air refueling, the B-47 gave SAC it's first all-jet force for nuclear or regular bomb delivery. Although it was tricky to fly, Stratojets flew into the mid 1960s. A program to strengthen the wings for low-level attack was responsible for prolonging the service life.

Includes conversion parts to turn a base kit into the very unusual tandem wing. Includes white and clear parts as required. Does not include the base kit. Vacuform conversions are only recommended for highly experienced modelers and scratch-building skills are required. The Tandem Wing Lysander was one of a number of experiments to convert this airplane into a beach-strafer. The first prototype received a shorter rear fuselage with a wide-span tandem wing with twin fins and rudders. At the rear was a power-operated four gun Boulton Paul turret, but the prototype (K6127) only had a mock up. Flight trials in 1940 showed very good handling.

This kit is odd as the outside kit number is M-29; inside, it is SF-29, the more familiar designation. After a closer look, this is a Cleveland 'SF' or 'Scale Flying' model in museum scale of 1/16. The kit came from a long time collector of 1930s and 1940s models and is in exceptional condition. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features very high quality balsa printwood and strip wood, covering material, highest quality plans, all parts required for assembly and decals (if issued with the kit). The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called 'The Aviation Craze' that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest operating single-owner model airplane supply business, called Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviations great Recruiter, Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.
