Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Rare scale kit measuring just over 10 inches long. Scale is given as 1/4"-4', which I believe is 1/192. Excellent model with a factory cut hardwood hull and superstructure, metal fittings, other pre-cut hardwood and stock wood as required, full size plans and instructions. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The USS Cairo has a fascinating history. She was built as one of the City Class Ironclad Gunboats and was among the first in the Federal Navy. She was commissioned on January 16, 1862 and was torpedoed and sunk on December 12, 1862. She was 7 miles south of Vicksburg at the time and was headed for a bombardment. The damaged was done by an electrically-fired torpedo. The Cairo sank in shallow water and was forgotten. But the silt did a remarkable preservation on her. Amazingly she was found and subsequently raised in 1964. You can see this ship at a park near the Vicksburg National Cemetery and there is an excellent museum as well.

Excellent model with a factory cut hardwood hull and superstructure, metal fittings, other pre-cut hardwood and stock wood as required, full size plans and instructions. NOTE: this kit has minor, neat assembly. The superstructure and two sponsons have been glued to the hull. Quality of assembly is 'professional.' There is no other assembly. The pilot house has been shaped roughly 1/2 of the way to completion. This work is of the same caliber. The kit has been inventoried complete with all parts and instructions. Please NOTE that the instructions call for 'wire' for the guns but there are two small straws instead. I assume this was a substitution at the factory. The USS Cairo has a fascinating history. Enterprise Cycle Miniatures Tandem Bicycle, 1/15, B2

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Rare. Enterprise was a very successful maker of balsa wood free-flight and control line aircraft models dating well back into the 1930s. The Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' got the attention of Enterprise staff. Enterprise maintained their own museum of rare and extraordinary old time bicycles, so it only seemed natural that the first (and only) two plastic kits from the company would represent bikes. This model is of the Tandem, based on an example from 1896 and is very nicely molded and detailed for that time. It includes a display base also. This model and a 'Old High Wheeler' were issued in 1954 but did not sell well; production was discontinued after a short run. The kit has never been started. All parts have been inventoried present with the base. However NOTE: The instructions are missing. The kit is very easy to build and it can be assembled by looking at the box top illustration.

Life-Like Proto 2000 21069 Rock Island E7 Locomotive A Unit / 21186 CB&Q SD9 Locomotive with Dynamic Braking/DCC Ready HO Scale, HO

Metal and Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

From an adult collection and climate controlled storage. Includes both locomotives and instructions. NOTE: please read carefully. The E7 has good paint but is very dusty and dirty. It comes in the original box with instructions. The horns and at least two hand rails are broken off and not present. The note on it says 'Runs OK' but I am not able to test it. In my opinion, this model needs very serious cleaning and at least the air horns and rails; maybe more. From looking at the wheels, it has been heavily run. The SD9 is in much better physical condition. The paint and lettering is 'excellent++ and the only thing not on the engine is the front coupler - it is included in a lock bag. Dust and some light dirt are the work flaws, but the dust is not heavy and restricted to the horizontal surfaces. It comes in the original box with instructions. It is a two motor design and has been moderately (but not heavily) run judging from the wheel wear. I am not able to test this or the first locomotive.
