Sanwa B-26D Invader Bomber - (A-26 / A/B-26), 1/110, 514

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc-

$58

Still factory sealed. Dates from the early 1960s and very hard to find. The scale is approximate. The kit is dated by the 'Tokyo Plamo' logo, which was used between 1960 and 1964. Sanwa was one of Japan's earliest post-WWII kit producers, making model kits in the 1950s; some sources say 1955. Kits were marketed under Sanwa and Tokyo Plamo, with the general consensus being the the later logo came out around 1960 or later. Production ended in 1964, making all Sanwa kits rare and collectible. The entire line was extensive. It included very small scale tanks (some that were motorized), battleships in three scales with the larger ones motorized with dual prop drive, slot cars, civil sport boats and an electric outboard, a full line of hand gun models that actually shot plastic bullets, two fighter groups and bomber groups (probably Monogram), several different lines of scale aircraft, missile kits, scale (static) car models of early Japanese automobiles, at least 7 flying model aircraft that had electric and rubber motors, a 'Super Control Stand' P-51 that moved with a joystick and had an electric propeller and sound unit, two different lighthouses and a windmill, an air cushion boat, motor cycles, a diving submarine (electric) and a working (rubber band) George Washington Class SSBN and even a garden tractor with an electric motor. There was even a cut away 727 in big 1/96 scale and an Airport Set with a Cessna 180 and Bell 47D Helicotoper. Just before going out of business, Sanwa issued some kits in conjunction with the 1964 Tokyo Olympic games - these kits even included a copy of an Olympic medal.

Aurora Ryan X-13 Vertijet With Trailer And Launcher, 1/48, 376-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$425

Old hobby shop stock that has never been up for retail sale. Very rare kit dated 1957; first and only issue. Very nice, large-scale model for that time with a fully operational mobile operations trailer. The aircraft is molded in gloss silver & clear while the trailer/launcher is bright yellow. The kit has never been started. When you open the box, it is exactly as it left the factory down to the packing tissue paper. The silver parts (aircraft) are still in the factory sealed bag. The yellow parts and clear canopy were never factory sealed and are inventoried complete. Includes 'excellent' condition decals and instructions. The box grades 'very good' which is rare for this kit. The red color is in unusually good shape, which is rare; as you may know, it usually ages poorly. The colors are bright and vibrant, all four corners are solid with no repairs, there is no fading, no tape, no price tags and no stains. Flaws include edge wear as shown and 3 small litho chips as well as creases visible at the lower left corner and center right. Although not perfect, it is one of the best I have seen.

AMT 1965 Buick Riviera 3 in 1 Kit Movie 'Villa Riviera' George Barris, 1/25, 6555-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$125

Early issue hardbox. Legendary AMT 3 in 1 kit can be built stock, custom or competition. This model will build the stock, Barris Custom or Barris' movie version. Model includes numerous optional parts for suspension, motor, exterior and interior as well as custom decals. Includes a special clear display stand also. Molded in white, clear and chrome with rubber tires and metal axles. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, vinyl material, decals and instructions. NOTE: box looks better than the 'fair' grade but it is graded that low because there is a large stain and box damage to the lower left long side and short left side of the box top. Additionally, there is identical damage to the tray (lower box) and I would grade it 'fair-.' NOTE: the instructions have only very minor bug damage but the decals have significant damage and are only 70% intact (about 30% destroyed).

Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.

Otaki Panzer IV German Tank Motorized With Working Gun - (Type IV), 1/45, OV-22

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$139

Very, very rare. From the early 1960s. Has the unique combination of motorized drive wheels and flexible treads and a firing gun. The gun fires a plastic bullet via a spring and trigger hidden in and below the barrel. The box is the high-gloss early style with attractive artwork. It is in excellent condition with like new color and gloss, no price tags or tape and no marks from either, four solid corners, no tears and no fading. The flaws are light shelf wear and light creasing. A very nicely detailed kit for that time and appears to be well engineered. Features a factory sealed bag of hardware including all-metal gear box, wire, motor mount, switches, battery racks, shafts, spring, screws and more. Please note that Otaki did not furnish the motor, which is recommended to be the common TKK Mabuchi RE-14. The tank is molded in dark olive drab and has the drive on the rear drive wheels which moves the caterpillar treads. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Amazingly, the treads are 100% intact, completely flexible and are still bound by the factory rubber bands! NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Airfix HS 125 Dominie - (DH-125 HS-125 Bae-125) Hawker - Type Three Logo issue, 1/72, 389

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$39

1960s issue with the famous 'Airfix -72' logo. This is the RAF Military version of the poplar business jet. Appears to be an early variant, perhaps the 1A or at the latest a 400 series. Can easily be built to business aircraft configuration if you supply your own decals and eliminate some of the small antenna. Features cockpit detail and crew, optional position main and emergency doors, separately molded elevators and ailerons and optional position landing gear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, 1/270, 494-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$145

Very rare and even rarer in this condition. First issue and with the one-year only rectangular logo. Dramatic Jo Kotula box art with 1956 date. The box is the finest I have seen. It has like-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, no tape or tape marks, no tags or tag marks, no fading, and no tear or missing litho. The only flaws are the light edge and corner wear shown at the bottom right and other (even lighter) shelf wear that probably not even visible in the photo. Molded in correct silver and clear with correct rectangular clear stand. A nice kit for that time, it features full centerline landing gear and outrigger struts and gear doors as well as clear cockpit canopy, outboard slipper fuel tanks, display stand and decals. It has the correct early rectangle-base clear Aurora stand, which is also shown on the instructions. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Instructions are mint and the decals are 'near mint.' It is interesting to note that this is not a reissue of the Comet molds - the two models are not even close to the same size or scale. This kit is original to Aurora, was made before Aurora acquired the Comet molds and also varies in a great many details. It appears that Aurora never even re-issued the Comet B-52, probably because they had a superior model already in the same low price range.
