Airfix Short Sunderland - Craftmaster Issue, 1/72, 1-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM+

Sold

SALE!! Still factory sealed and in investment-grade 'near mint+' condition. The box has incredible Craftmaster artwork. A merchant ship is sinking on the left and the crew is in lifeboats in the foreground on lower side panel. The Sunderland is preparing to rescue them, while the other Sunderland depth-charges the U-boat responsible for the sinking. The Sunderland's 21-year record with the RAF has made it a legend. Derived from the Empire Class Flying Boat Airliners, Sunderland IIIs had a top speed of 210 mph and an endurance of 12 hours. These qualities made the Sunderland a superb platform for North Sea and North Atlantic patrols, ASW and SAR. Crews usually loved the airplane; its large size afforded many airborne comforts that bomber or fighter crews could only dream of, such as bunk, a head and an area for food preparation. Kit features beaching gear, rotating turrets with elevating guns, movable control surfaces, external bomb load and rotating props.

Airfix B-17G Flying Fortress Craftmaster Issue, 1/72, 1-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Early issue from the 1960s. This is the hardbox in the 'long box' format, perhaps the hardest to find of the three variants. Dramatic artwork shows 'A Bit O'Lace' near the bombing run. Features many moving parts: turrets rotate and guns elevate, landing gear retracts/extends, wheels and props turn and all control surfaces move. Never started. NOTE: missing a crew figures and display stand. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts present, as well as decals and instructions.

Airfix German Battlecruiser Scharnhorst Craftmaster Issue, 1/600, S3-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

Sold

Still in factory sealed, mint, investment-grade condition. From the early to mid 1960s. Unusual kit of the early Scharnhorst with the 'straight' bow. This was before her modification with the 'Atlantic' bow. Wonderful Craftmaster artwork hardbox. Nicely molded full hull model. This is one of two known box issues for the Craftmaster Scharnhorst. This one has black side panels and S3-129 as the kit number. Very nicely detailed and well molded for that time.

Airfix HMS Hood British Battlecruiser - Type 2 Issue, 1/600, F4025

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

1950s issue with the second type logo and box design. Full hull model is finely molded and detailed for that time, like most early Airfix ships. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. NOTE: the box looks better than the grade, but is graded as such because there are tape tears on 3 of the sides.

Airfix HMS Nelson Battleship T2 Issue, 1/600, F403S

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

1950s second logo issue. The box displays as 'near mint' but is graded 'good++' because there are tape tears to the litho on one long and one short side. Like most all Airfix ship kits, it is a full hull model and very finely molded and detailed for that time. This kit has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. NOTE: although complete, one yard arm and three secondary gun barrels are cleanly broken off at the base; all these parts are present.

Aurora HMS King George V British Battleship, 1/600, 712-149

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Second box art issue of this Aurora kit which dates from 1962. Please note that the oval logo says 'Famous Fighters' in the border. Full hull model that was quite nice for that time. It features props and rudder detail, very nice superstructure, separately molded main, secondary and 20mm AA guns, raised 'wood' decking and separate details as small as searchlights, display stands and nameplate. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Even the factory tissue paper is present.

Features raised line engraved 'wood' decking, propeller and rudder detail, aircraft and catapult, 'good' superstructure details, separately molded main, secondary and AA gun turrets, display stands and a name plate. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes well illustrated instructions and a great history of this ship. NOTE: the catalog order form at the bottom corner of the instructions has been torn out and is missing.

Revell BB-38 USS Pennsylvania - Sea Power and Master Modelers Club Issue, 1/426, H422-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM+

Sold

The most desirable issue in investment-grade 'Near Mint+' condition inside and out. The box has factor-fresh color and gloss, no tape or tags and no marks from either, no missing or torn litho, no fading and no split or repaired corners. The only wear is very, very light, what you would expect from being put in the Revell shipping carton and then removed from it. 1961 Sea Power hardbox release which includes the rare Pennsylvania trading stamp ("mint" condition) and two trading cards depicting the B-29 Pacific Raiders art and F-106 Whip-Fly issue art (both "mint"). Inside, the kit is like new, with all parts still in the factory sealed bag and the instructions still in "mint" condition. The Pennsylvania was in dry-dock during the December 7th Pearl Harbor attack and survived with minimal damage. She was rebuilt and saw significant action in the Pacific in WWII, steaming over 150,000 miles from 1941 to 1945. It is thought that she may have fired more ammunition than any ship in history. She never once reported 'Not Ready' for any operation or need. After being used as a nuclear test ship at Bikini, she was towed to Kwajalein and sunk.

Monogram Wirbelwind Flakpanzer IV, 1/32, PM233-300

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

1969 'Green Box' issue. This vehicle could put up a withering barrage of lead in the path of Allied airmen. The Flakpanzer used a Panzer IV chassis and mounted a 2CM Flakvierling 38 quadruple anti-aircraft gun in an open, rotating armored turret. It could reach 25 mph with its 12 cylinder Maybach engine and had a range of 125 miles. Features rotating turret, elevating guns and gun sight, detailed moving flexible treads, bogeys with spring action, optional position hatch covers and includes extra tread links, bogeys, Jerry cans and helmets with two crew figures. Monogram Sherman M4 Hedge Hog Tank with Hedgerow Cutter, 1/32, 4201

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

1975 issue. Very highly detailed kit featuring Normandy 'Cullin' hedge cutter and crew of two. Missing the diorama sheet. This kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Modified Shermans were required to cut through the thick hedgerows of Normandy which had previously proved almost impenetrable. This modification assisted greatly with the speed of the offensive in this region. Can be built with 'soft armor' as shown on the cover or as the standard welded-hull M4 without the Cullin and 'soft armor.'

Tamiya T55 Soviet Union 36 Ton Medium Tank Motorized, 1/25, MT112

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Very, very rare motorized early issue; please note the high-gloss box art and early Tamiya-Mokei logo. The box displays better than my 'good+' grade. It has excellent gloss, some creases, no tears and no price tags, but it is graded as such because there is old packing tape on the left side and top long side. Highly detailed for that time and designed for motorized operation. Hardware includes a steel and brass gear box, brass drive shafts, other metal drive gears, all wires, battery contacts, reversing switch and more. As usual, the motor is not included but it calls for a TKK Mabuchi 25. Inside, the kit is as it left the factory. It has never been started. All the parts that were factory sealed are still sealed and the correct color headers on the bags are excellent. The small motorizing parts and glue are bagged with a header; the all-metal gear box is bright as new, packed with a tiny tube of grease and sealed with a header as well. The the two hull parts and treads were never factory sealed; and they are all excellent. Amazingly, the treads are unbroken, supple and 100% intact! The instructions are 'near mint' and the decals are as well (they are still bag sealed.)

Tamiya Chieftain British 47 Ton Medium Tank Motorized, 1/25, MT111

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

Very rare motorized early issue; please note the high-gloss box art and early Tamiya-Mokei logo. Highly detailed for that time and designed for motorized operation. Hardware includes a steel and brass gear box, brass drive shafts, other metal drive gears, all wires, battery contacts, reversing switch and more. As usual, the motor is not included but it calls for a Mabuchi 25. The box has great gloss and shine, but has significant wear as shown and also a piece of old packing tape on each of the box sides. Inside, the kit is as it left the factory. It has never been started. All the parts that were factory sealed are still sealed and the correct color headers on the bags are excellent. The small motorizing parts and glue are bagged with a header; the all-metal gear box is bright as new and sealed with a header as well. The the two hull parts and treads were never factory sealed; and they are all excellent. Amazingly, the treads are unbroken, supple and 100% intact! The instructions are 'excellent' and the decals are as well (they are still bag sealed.)

Tamiya SU100 Assault Gun Motorized - (Su-100), 1/35, MT117

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Very rare, early issue. Please note Tamiya-Mokei early logo. The box is the desirable high-gloss issue and displays better than the 'very good' grade. But I gave it that grade because there is light general wear, and one short side has a 3/4" closed tear, as well as general side panel wear as well. Inside, the kit is as it left the factory. It has never been started. All the parts that were factory sealed are still sealed and the correct color headers on the bags are excellent. The small parts are bagged with a header; the all-metal gear box is bright as new and sealed as well. The TKK Mabuchi motor is present and still in a mint, early Mabuchi factory box. The modified motor mount is included in the factory sealed bag with the correction to the instructions. Only the (2) hull parts and treads were never sealed, and even the treads are 100% whole, 'near mint' and fully flexible. The instructions are 'near mint' and decals are still sealed in a bag and 'excellent.'
