  Revell Model Kits

Revell American Firefighters Chemical and Ladder, 1/48, F201-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$79

Dated 1953 with a wonderful hardbox illustration. Kit also includes horses, dog and fireman and real chain. The kit has not been started. Inside, it is still in the factory cello seal. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This issue is from when Revell still had the marketing agreement, as it says 'Trade Mark Copyright 1953 Marlin Toy Co. Inc' on the box top and 'Collector's Kits, Inc, Closter, N.J.' on the side.

Revell Clipper Stag Hound 'The Largest Merchant Ship of Her Day', 1/216, H371

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$42

Dated 1972 and from the superior 1950s 'S' kit molds. Very nicely detailed like all early Revell sailing ships. Features full hull, display stand, premolded ratlines, detailed deck fittings, optional vac sails and extensive rigging instructions. The kit has never been started. Inventoried with all parts present. Includes decals, flag sheet, instructions and vacuform sails in 'excellent' condition. The Stag Hound was designed by the famous Donald McKay and was launched on December 7, 1850. She is famous for her great speed and turned a nice profit for her owners. The most notable event was when the Stag Hound was asked to take a copy of President Lincoln's inaugural address to London. During this run, she raced the steamer 'America' and won easily. Shortly after this she was lost off Brazil to a spontaneous combustion of her coal cargo. The crew successfully abandoned ship. The captain was the last to leave. He lowered the American Flag, wrapped it around himself and jumped overboard.

Revell Spanish Galleon, 1/65, H400

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$95

NOTE: builder only, please read carefully. 1974 issue. Highly detailed and large model, measuring 28.5 inches long and 25 inches high. Features full hull, detailed cannon and deck fittings, vac sails, large colorful decal sheet with designs on them as per the box artwork, large color flag sheet, pre-formed ratlines and more. Full rigging instructions and material are included. Two of the vac sails have closed splits from the plastic being brittle. The kit has no assembly and is inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals, flag sheet, instructions, rigging diagram and rigging material. NOTE: this kit has some very neatly done painting. The hull halves, (2) rear superstructure, fantail and cannons are painted. As you can see from the sample photo, the quality of paint is 'excellent+' to 'professional' with the only problem being that another coat is required in some places (on the hull for example). Also, 2.2 inches of the port bow tip is broken and missing. Fortunately, this is a part that can be made by first assembly the hull halves, then gluing sheet styrene to the existing starboard tip. Then shape the styrene to match the starboard side.

Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. NOTE: the box has moisture damage but the kit inside is all in 'excellent' condition. The Ontos was a unique vehicle. Ontos is a Greek word for 'The Thing' and the vehicles lives up to that. Developed along a new concept in mobile warfare, the Ontos has little defense other than movement but a very powerful offensive punch. It carries six 106mm recoilless rifles and .50 caliber spotting rifles. The firing sequence went like this: the crew of three would get out and hand load the six large guns. Then the Ontos would quickly move towards the target. Once sited, the gunner would fire the .50 caliber machines guns until he saw them hit the target - this assured that the 6 big rifles were on target also. At the time, he could fire a full salvo of 6 or in steps of two. The 8.5 ton vehicle would then speed away, moving to a safe location to reload.
