Aeroclub Felixstowe F-2A Flying Boat - (F.2A), 1/72

Vacuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

High quality multi-media model features superb vacuform parts, optional parts for alternate fuselage decking for open cockpit version, many metal details including engines, struts, gun rings, props and much more, clear canopy, strut material and painting guide and decals for 5 aircraft. The F2A saw extensive and successful service in WWI and sported many interesting paint jobs from dark green, red and white and dazzle paint or 'Jazz Patterns.' The early flying boats of the RNAS were largely due to the design talents of Lt. John Porter. Porter had worked in America for Glenn Curtiss, and he returned to England in 1914 when WWI started. He reported to Felixstowe where he redesigned the 'Large America' flying boat into the F2A.

H&F Model Airplane Co The Bee - 48 inch Wingspan Free Flight or R/C

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

H&F was out of Brooklyn, NY in the 1930/40s. Rare 1930s free flight model for B Class Competition. Since this model is super-stable, it would make an ideal conversion to RC. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. It is like factory-new inside and has not been started - it even includes 1930s style low profile wheels/tires. Complete with all parts, plans and decals (if originally included). Designed for 'Sniffing Thermals', the honored pastime of a generation of model enthusiasts. Flying model aircraft predated powered flight; however, balsa wood and printwood were not introduced until the early 1930s and the hobby took off, as well as the hunt for thermals. Gas flight began in the early 1930s, and early gas powered models, all powered by Brown engines, took home so many awards that they were forever separated in competition from rubber powered models. Design of gas models was tricky since RC (radio control) models could not yet be applied to the mass market; so a gas model had to not only fly and climb under power, but then glide sufficiently - all without any operator inputs once the airplane took off.

A tour of South and North America was conducted, but orders never materialized due to excessive fuel consumption and a lack of power. Total load was 170 passengers and crew, and the 12 engines developed 7200 HP.

KP Avia CS-199 (Bf-109) - Two-Seat Fighter Trainer Czech Air Force, 1/72

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

Unique kit of this domestically produced Czech two seat fighter trainer based on the Me-109. When the Germans left Czechoslovakia in 1945, the Avia Works completed a small number of Bf-109G-6 and G-14 airframes with abandoned German engines. The single seat aircraft were designated S-99 and the two seater CS-99. Due to a shortage of DB-605 engines, Avia adapted Jumo-211 engines and the single seat S-199 and 2 seat CS-199 were born. First flown in 1949, 82 CS-199s were produced and remained in service till the mid 1950s when they were replaced by MIG-15UTI or CS-102 trainers. Kit includes detailed descriptions and markings markings for three historically significant aircraft. Cleanly molded with very fine raised panel line details and good dual cockpit detail. Nicely detailed. The model as never been started. The parts are either still in the factory sealed bag or have been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. KP stood for Kovozavody Prostejov. Many USA builders had their first exposure to Eastern Block kits in the 1980s from KP. Although they certainly cannot compete with recent Tamiya or Hasegawa kits, they were nicely detailed for their time and can be built up into some beautiful and unique models.
