Still factory sealed and from 1980. Very nicely molded and detailed kit. Has decals for both aircraft. In the 1930s Pan Am was a household word in the USA for their romantic foreign routes and the glamorous 'China Clippers' that crossed the Pacific Ocean, stopping at such ports as Wake Island. Pan Am's attention soon turned to the Atlantic. Since non-stop service would be needed, a new aircraft was designed. The Boeing 314 was chosen. This huge flying boat started flying the Atlantic mail in 1939 with a trip over 26 hours long. Before the war, the 314 fleet flew the Pacific, Atlantic and other routes. The airliner was a palace compared to the cramped jets and limited service of today. The flight deck compared to the bridge of a ship and housed 6 crew. It was connected to the passenger cabin by a spiral staircase. The luxurious cabins were divided into 5 standard compartments, each seating 10 passengers, a dining salon for 14, a special compartment for four and a deluxe bridal suite. 74 could be carried on day trips and 40 when sleeping quarters for all passengers was required. Chefs prepared gourmet meals while passengers lounged in deeply cushioned wicker chairs and enjoyed a grand view of the scenery from about 5,000 feet. The age of the Clippers ended shortly after WWII when land planes could operate at much higher speeds than the flying boats.

1958 first issue with fantastic Jo Kotula boxart. This is the Parents' Magazine issue with the seal located in the lower right and the '69' price circle at the upper left. This was considered a fine model in the day and rated highly in magazine reviews. These classic 1930s Navy Biplane Fighters are still famous for their colorful paint jobs at that that time. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Cowl, tail and trim color would vary with the group's Aircraft Carrier (Ranger, Lexington or Saratoga and the aircraft's position in the flight formation.

Second issue hardbox from 1963 of this rare kit with great John Steel artwork. This is a well detailed model for that time which features 96 pieces, moving wheels, breech, recoil mechanism, limber and gun trails. Molded in gloss olive drab green and with black rubber tires. NOTE: this kit has very minor and 'professional' quality subassembly to only two parts: the gun barrel halves. There is no other assembly and zero painting. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The box displays higher than the 'very good++' rating but it graded as such because there is scuffing on the four sides; the sides only rate 'good+.'

Rare very early issue from 1956 with Northern Lights logo and the 69 cent price circle on the right of the box top. What is most unusual is that the price is within a red-filled circle; this is the second instance of this that I have seen in more than 26 years. Just when you think you have Aurora's kit history figured out, they throw you another curve ball! Molded in the correct glossy dark green and black. Decals and instructions are correct for the first issue as well. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Even includes the original factory tissue packing material.

Very rare 1957 issue with the original artwork and the then-new Sunburst Oval logo with 'Famous Fighters' in the border. This was a one-year only issue because in 1958 the new Jo Kotula artwork was introduced. The P-26A was originally issued shortly after Aurora moved to the West Hempstead facility on Long Island, NY. Molded in the correct glossy light blue and clear with the early style Aurora rectangular stand, correct Tatem Company decals and the correct instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box has wear as shown and is only 'good.' Aurora was the only early US model company known for consistently turning a profit. They never wasted anything and that included instructions, stands and decals. If any were left, they were used (in the new style box, like in this case) until they were used up.
