During the mid 1930s the Czech Air Force became aware of a need for a modern bomber aircraft. In order to shorten production times, they decided to look abroad for designs that could be built in-country. The French were cooperative but the bomber choices were not as the Czechs had hoped for. However, they settled on the MB-200 all metal high wing monoplane. Some copies were delivered assembled, but most were produced in state by Aero and afforded an excellent learning experience with all metal aircraft production. The airplane served well during the late 1930s, but was obsolete for WWII. The Germans distributed many to Romania and Bulgaria.
